‘This is not the NHL’: Hockey parents, you need to calm down

A lot of thumbs down but it is definitely apart of the the problem. Too often penalties don't get called, some of them are down right dangerous (hits from behind). Too many times they hesistate to make calls. I respect the job they do and I know it's hard to find them. I'm not putting them down but it is an issue. Its like police refusing to respond and charge people, or everyone getting bail.Again, upmost respect but it is definitely part of the overall problem.

Carney is definitely not the answer to the Liberal party... there are reasons he no longer works for the UK.

Why is this a provincial matter? This should be dealt with by the municipality, that being the City of Toronto. Does Doug not realize he isn't the mayor but the Premier of Ontario? Stay in your lane Doug.. pun intended.

The question is how much does it cost to keep them on the street. Average constables are between $75,000-$95,000.If crime rates are high, you need more officers to control it. Policing is a 24/7, 365 job so you may just pay what would be for incarceration in an increase of officers or like our force, go over budget due to overtime. Either way, society pays for it somewhere, it comes down to what we prefer, paying for officers or paying for jails. Repeat offenders don't care about laws, which is why the keep breaking them, incarceration is sometimes the only way to stop them

Federal government pushing this program for rental units specifically in Ontario is such a scam since any new builds after 2018 don't have to abide by rent increase percentage. They can raise rent to whatever they want, whenever they want.. thanks to Doug Ford 😑

Who's care that he apologized, we all say sorry more than we need to. He is right, feds don't control the provinces and premiers have a right to their opinion even if that opinion upset the manchild

Mayor Shoemaker, Enough of the cancel culture. Respect the history of the great country. Soldiers died on the field of battle after swearing an oath of allegiance to the monarchy, while I don't know the oath you took but I'm bet it was a part of your oath too.Put up the potrait and stop being childish.Sincerely,A Canadian Veteran

You misunderstood, the billion dollars isn't just for Algoma. It's for all the impacted industries, steel, aluminum and auto, Its for all of them.Bad management at Algoma, you're 100% right. Essar robbed algoma steel of hundred of millions, tsking all profits to feed their global enterprise and stiffling contractors and our community as a whole. Is Algoma still run by poor management? Maybe, you could argue both for and against. The EAF eill hopefully bring new life to Algoma and these tarriffs and the removal of interprovincial trade barriers may bring some desperately needed diversification of their customers.Hopefully this all leads to a better future but we also need to remember that Algoma Steel is the largest industry in the Sault and other than governement jobs we have tenaris with, maybe 500 employees. If you ask me our city council needs to focus on getting new industries and companies to the sault and not tourist

City council forget they serve this city and the people that live in it. SERVE NOT DICTATE!How can you justify going ahead with a project that the MAJORITY "DO NOT WANT".Stop the project or this city will expect you all to resign.Ridiculous fisical irresponsibility

Impossible to tell how Americans will react. Wouldn't be the first time in history a leader is replaced by the people.

100% agree, this sounds like a gamble that people will continue to speed through them in order to pay for themselves. We're a small town, people will adapt and the revenue will drop and we'll be left paying the operating costs.I think we should install multiple speed bumps in the areas of concern. They're significantly cheaper and other than purchase, install and removal for winter they don't have an significant operating cost. They address the issue of speeding without the risk. What happens when they aren't making enough money, do you adjust the limit and start handing out tickets for people who are driving 50.1km/h.I think the city is looking for revenue, which they will get in the 1st year, even though they say they aren't.

There is nothing wrong with getting uptown or going downtown. Stop trying to fix a problem that doesn't exsist.I agree with other comments regarding Great Northern and Second line.. that is a major intersection with major congestion issues.Oh wait, sorry I forgot.. that's too far from City Hall for our councilors to care about it.Out of touch but they'll argue "they know better than us"

Dimplomacy only works if both parties are at the table with resonable offers. Trump said he got what he wanted and paused for 30 days.. now he's still going ahead. What does he want? Do we let threats of tariffs make us give in?

I wonder what Doug Ford has to say about it

Is it worth it?The city is hoping it brings in 1.2 million but after the estimated costs of the $945,000 to run them with the additional staff we will only profit $255,000. That's until drivers start catching on and slow down and/or avoid them, then how much will we be paying for them. I don't think we have a population that would support it.We might see profit in the first few years, but afterwards, I think it'll end up costing us more than their worth. We should install removable speed bumps like many other municipalities do and with significantly less overhead.. and not those useless signs like on MacDonald ave.

This city needs new jobs and for that we need a new city council who is more about the people who call this city home than those who visit for 2 days. Stop with the tourist attractions and let companies come here

Why don’t we just by it and run it like the John Rhodes?
Dean suspended, fined by OHL
SooToday
Yeah but the OHL couldn't get proper refs so they bumped them up. They called a decent game up until the end where they thought they had to do something because there was an injury and so they called the most ridiculous penalty I ever saw. Especially since neither had raised their hand for a penalty initially. It was a terrible call and I think it was partially influenced by the refs trying not to look biased towards their home team.
Honestly, I believe we need a different breed of politician. It's so frustrating that elected officials refuse to answer simple questions and instead insult each other or state their catch phrases. Our electoral system is in need of updating, the 1st past the post system is ridiculous and Trudeau let everyone down when he failed to meet his promise.Look at other democracies, steering clear of what they call a republic to our south, we should be catching up with the rest and adopting a proportiate system while also following Austalia and getting rid of our senate and the ridiculous cost of paying senators for life.I'd rather see more coalation governments compromising for the benefit of the majority that a party with majority but less of the poplar vote running rampant with policies mant disagree with. This goes for both the red and blue.Politicians who have some form of integrity and aren't afraid of the polls or the entertainment value. This is all ridiculous.
No!!! How about we update and fix our current parks? $8 million for phase 1.. how much will this cost us over the years? How about we build a fesitval grounds.. I guess we can't because there is no room down by city hall. How about we spend less than $8 million and have an municipal election!
