There's a lot of truth in what Eli Klasner has to say. Can the City hire a librarian/archivist to go through and list all the reports and researches done through the years. However much money has been wasted duplicating previous efforts, it will probably more than pay for the bloated salary and benefits required to hire a qualified person.Put the current projects on hold and start fresh with a base of facts and requirements before spending any more money on pie-in-the-sky wish lists.
Didn't we pay for a re-branding of our "huge" city a number of years ago? I believe tee shirts were sold bearing the image of trees, cutbanks and rivers? I don't know who paid the artist or what amount they were paid but it did not go anywhere in any noticeable way.Instead of paying presumable good money to brand our city, I suggest putting the money, time and effort into cleaning up our streets. Actually housing the current unhoused population, creating meaningful facilities for those who cannot care for themselves and giving the fire patrol proposal a chance to either work as is or improving the plan.Sorry Ms. Ramsay, much as I admire your rose-coloured glasses view, you might spend more time and thought on some of the schemes you consider before cheerleading them to the public.Mr. Simpson, I am sorry you tried to take the ball and run with it to promote our City but Ms. Rogers deflated the ball immediately. Why is a Vancouver company once again winning the contact for this?
Other apartment buildings treat the whole building at the same time. Kind of like cockroach infestations, you have to cover every area or you will not be successful. Lots of personal items - books, upholstered furniture and cloth items have to be removed.
Sadly, the "generosity" of some people is severely lacking in this town, and elsewhere. A good rule would be that if you wouldn't buy it, wear it, eat it or use it, it's garbage and needs to be taken to the dump. It's so disrespectful and disheartening to the charity and volunteers for you to drop your discards off without a reasonable expectation of improving their cause.I wish the Prince George Humane Society great success with this new fundraising adventure, I plan to both donate and shop there in the near future.
Go Canada on Thursday to have a shot at the final 32! I have to say I am not a huge football/soccer fan but the drone show after the final match has me excited!
How will the curtailment at Lakeland Mills affect the energy lines that the City built and signed off on? Is there a certain amount of waste product necessary to feed the system ensuring that all attached to it will continue to be available? I would like to be reassured that the City will not need to subsidize the mill in the future to provide the energy required.
Just curious. How many charging stations are there in the city and how often are they utilized? Which locations are the most popular? How much does it cost and who does it cost per kilogram of greenhouse gas emissions?
Good for you Mama! So nice to hear there is light at the end of the tunnel, and your hard work and better choices have been rewarded. Continued success in your, and your children's, futures!
When the government promoted forming the lottery corporation many years ago, they claimed that a certain percentage of the profits would be directed to sport organizations for this very reason. For the first few years, as far as I can recall, amateur sports group were funded by the lottery profits. Back then you could also receive a very nice booklet annually as a report of sales revenue, costs and disbursements of funds to both winners and non-profit organizations.I would love to see deserving people and groups representing our country receive better funding again. Lottery funds should not be supporting the government or a connected someone's pet project.
My first thought about this is why the "reverter" clause was implemented in the first place and by who for what reason. My second thought is who asked for and the reason(s) why the clause is no longer wanted/required?
Is the museum climate controlled? It's too bad that the lease-in, lease-out agreement wasn't held and invested for needs like this. Imagine an eternal fund that could have used the interest only income to cover one-time expenses of various organizations here. In the big scheme of things $40,000 isn't an impossible amount, surely there are fundraisers that could cover this. Get creative!
While I understand the risk we all take by spending time outside in the sun and cloud shine, it is not in the City's mandate to provide sunscreen to the masses. I suggest that Northern Health would be the entity to approach about this. They do or did provide free condoms to anyone who asked, maybe they could also provide bottles of sunscreen as well?
