why is Ms.Gauvin always dismissive about initiatives taking place in the community and of other organizations? There are other organization working with people in the encampments but from all the media rhetoric you would think Elevate is the only show in town that is doing anything. What is really going on here, what is the end game?

Some non-profits have been working tirelessly to get housing projects up and going. Too bad the city is not working with them to find permanent solutions with a lesser price tag.

I can’t say that I am happy about this news. Many walkers and hikers have been chased out of the park as it has gotten too dangerous. I personally have been harassed by bicyclist stating to get off the trails (after walking there for 30 years) and this was during non-racing evenings. I try to be respectful and avoid the area when there are races. Mind you it is not as nice to walk there anymore. The wildlife is essentially non-existent and I was getting tired of seeing the damage caused to fauna and flora by the bicycles and construction. A real shame. I wonder what the future holds for centennial park. I am glad they need to stay away from the cascades, at this time anyway.

It is not uncommon for youth to be considered to at least the age 30 in the social service world. Many of these individuals have not been exposed to environments that assist them to reach developmental milestones during childhood; therefore, they do not have the functioning that you would expect at 34.

I agree. Also people need to make sure they are visible to drivers in the dark hours.

There is also permanent housing coming to the city due to the funding opportunities through TBDSSAB. Publically maligning DSSAB and other agencies is poor example of leadership from Elevate, including the Board of Directors who allow you to do this. Housing providers are working tirelessly to address the lack of affordable housing. Walking away from funding is only hurting the people it is meant to serve. Walking away from partnerships is also hurting clients.

You nailed it and good on you. There is a lot more to this than is being presented.

Keep in mind that these ducks have become accustomed to people. It is unfair to capture what are essentially tame ducks. Also they pair bond so a mate of one of the ducks was taken. Many people assume animals do not grieve, but that has been proven to be untrue. If indeed they took the duck for consumption I hope they are nailed big time.,

Good question. There will never be zero homelessness as Thunder Bay is a hub for transient populations.

Tbay news. I guess you have to keep it short and simple for some…the KISS principle.

What evidence is there that they are not able to afford food?

This is truly a shame. I was hoping you would consider going to the North side.

What a shame and poor ethics.
Short sighted. It is far less expensive to provide services at home and far better for people’s well-being. Oh well, more visits to the ER.
You need administration to support the health care staff.
There are very competent officers out there; however, there are some bad apples as well. They misuse their perceived power and approach the public with inappropriate behaviour and attitude, including law abiding citizens. The force needs an overhaul but the union will keep the bad apples in and the reputation of the TBPS will continue to suffer.

Some people are just not happy with any chief.
