If you think Trump's 50% tariff on steel, which prevents Algoma Steel from doing profitable business with the US, is not the real cause behind these layoffs, then you need to educate yourself. American companies will not buy Canadian steel because of the tariff. Who else is Algoma Steel supposed to sell its products to that can be on par with the 3rd largest country in the world?
