Why does Thunder Bay need a smart growth plan?
TBNewsWatch 19Over the last 20-30 years, Thunder Bay has been slowest growing city in the country, if not, on the planet. The City has been in defensive-mode, not attractive enough more new industries, that will attract more employment. The single-family homeowners cannot keep up with tax increases. If the City wants to match their desire for more public transit, and get cars of the road, then the multi-residential units make sense. On top of that, the College and University should build more accommodations for their students, and relieve some of the vacancy pains. There is an abundance of vacant land in Thunder Bay suitable for multi-residential units. Knock down some empty buildings. And at the same time, lets try and increase the commercial and industrial property revenues somehow, like attracting more commercial and industrial business.
