Glad to hear the counsel had the guts to stand up to the mayor. The city is not run by one person, even thou he may think so. Truthfully, i hope the unfortunate set up tents in the square again. But I do believe they need to be respectful, and keep it peaceful, and with any luck at all find a permanent place to live.

the mayor needs to come to a reality since when are those rents affordable. They are more than what a lot of people can afford.

i side with the drivers, the public does not see the work environment does not just include while driving...there is alot that goes on behind the sceneshope they settle but if not I am behind the drivers... and yes i actually use mobility, so it does affect me,

leave the social supports and services in the downtown area, most people who need them do not have vehicles and can't afford to go to other parts of the city ... as a resident of Guelph for 22 yrs, I would rather see something done about having the downtown taken over by students and others drinking, causing problems, violence, and just a really unwelcoming atmosphere... Remember the people who are down on their luck are citizens too and need to be treated with dignity. As for the ones that want the students, etc causing problems in the downtown instead then why do we have to have extra patrols down there and what does it cost to have to send resources down there to take care of problems from people who are not even the tax payers of Guelph... Anyone who thinks you should hide the unfortunate people down on their luck else where maybe you should try walking in their shoes or for that matter pick up and move...

yes ambulances need to increase, but put that 500,000 $ towards keeping site open and helping the people before it becomes a matter of life and death...

seems like the city is doing everything they can to keep the unfortunate population of people who need these services out of downtown.. The city needs to realize these individuals are people also obvious they do not have a friend, neighbor or loved one in this situation or just don't care about it and turn a blind eye... Guelph use to be a compassionate city when I moved here 22 yrs. ago... real shame it has become the city it has..

This should not of happened. The city of Guelph is wrong in this decision.

true, and he was one of the best judges
what a joke, those rents stated in article are still way out of reach for people. I am paying less than that for a two bedroom and can't afford it... people who have money just don't understand what others are dealing with...
why not do any repairs and make it back into jails so that they are not having to have three people to a small cell that is barely big enough for two... OR turn it into a shelter place for the people of Guelph who needs help desperately...
funny one part says free food and games and another part has signs up the cost and to buy tickets and cash only didn't know you could have it both way
