Department of Social Services should be pulling out all of the stops to help this lady get better accommodation. She is trying to make a living and has a brutal landlord but DDSS shouldn’t be sitting around doing nothing. This is where their help is needed and should be focused. Never mind excuses ..do what taxpayer dollars pay you to do.
Won’t be voting for this guy. After telling me he would never get rid of the removal of windrows by city crews, he actually brought a resolution forward to do exactly that!!! And it passed…way to go Mr. Gardi.
If you commit a crime, you need to pay the price. Law abiding citizens deserve to be able to go for walks, enjoy parks, etc. without having to worry about getting mugged, beaten or killed. We need more jails, tougher sentencing rules and need to abolish the young offenders act. Keep criminals in jail and allow the non criminal citizens to be safe.
Well, with the salaries that are paid to staff, it is not surprising to see an increase. Also, the state of homelessness in the city is also cause of higher budget needs. What I don’t understand is why a new building was needed when the city then turned around and sold or leased the old building out. If it was too expensive to renovate or beyond repair, what changed. Something smells here.
Algoma Steel does not ship overseas. Algoma has it’s own dock. This project is a pipe dream that has been shot down several times because it was not feasible. What’s changed?
Gardi is getting ready for next year’s election. All of a sudden, he is getting involved, albeit a little too late. By the beginning of the new year, there will be 1,000 fewer people at Algoma. People need to remember all of the current council’s foolish decisions and replace them all in 2026.
Marit is a joke. And she is just campaigning for Vezeau-Allen…pretty obvious. The money the plant got was a loan . With virtually zero orders into the States, what did you think would happen? If you owned a business would you pay people to just show up and do nothing?
I don’t believe that Doug Ford is doing anything that the other party leaders would do. It is easy for them to throw stones when they are not in power and in danger of losing another election.
North Street …Superior Heights and Kiwedin Schools…bus route….senior residences (Finnish Rest Home) banks have not been touched….there goes that theory…
By next spring, Algoma Steel will have approx. 1100 people less. There will also be an unknown amount of service jobs lost in the community due to Algoma’s reduction. And council is still in spending mode into the millions trying to satisfy foolish projects….go figure
3.8M is not even close to being enough to get our roads up to acceptable standards. This budget should be at least in the 10M to 12M range annually for at least 5 years and a plan to resurface roads needs to be implemented. Council voted down a $500,000 request. I suppose they haven’t noticed the condition of our roads. It is time to put all vanity projects on the back burner until we can say for a FACT that only 5% of our roads are poor.
Unbelievable…nobody should ever have to pay at a hospital! Do they forget who actually paid to build it?And when the government allocates money to them each year, who do you think it is coming from? What a scam…
