If you commit a crime, you need to pay the price. Law abiding citizens deserve to be able to go for walks, enjoy parks, etc. without having to worry about getting mugged, beaten or killed. We need more jails, tougher sentencing rules and need to abolish the young offenders act. Keep criminals in jail and allow the non criminal citizens to be safe.

Well, with the salaries that are paid to staff, it is not surprising to see an increase. Also, the state of homelessness in the city is also cause of higher budget needs. What I don’t understand is why a new building was needed when the city then turned around and sold or leased the old building out. If it was too expensive to renovate or beyond repair, what changed. Something smells here.

I fail to see the viability of a multimodal site in Sault Ste Marie. I do not think we are geographically suitable for long term success.

I don’t believe that Doug Ford is doing anything that the other party leaders would do. It is easy for them to throw stones when they are not in power and in danger of losing another election.

For shipments slated for Western Canada, why would the cargo be offloaded in the Sault when it can just continue through to Thunder Bay if shipping by boat and then moved to trucks or rail. Shipments from the west would likely just continue through to Southern Ontario with no need to offload here before being moved to a Southern Ontario location. Also, the locks are closed for 2 to 3 months every winter. As for rail movement, why offload in the Sault if the cargo is destined for Southern Ontario or Western Canada. In addition, forget Algoma Steel business as they do not need a port as they have their own dock. This is a pie in the sky idea that the city has received federal money to investigate but it won’t go anywhere.

Bottom line: PC’s will tap into and expand the country’s resources. The Liberals won’t. PC’s will keep criminals in jail. Liberals won’t. The Liberal governments of Canada and Ontario have pushed an environmental agenda for 20 years. The result…can’t afford homes, can’t afford food, crime is up, drugs are rampant, unable to safely walk streets. It was a a pretty good diversion to keep people from paying attention to the real problems. Also…who do you think decided that we didn’t need as many seats in medical school so went ahead and cut them? How is that working out? And to add…it makes no difference who the leader of each party is…it is all about their policies and how to get people to buy in or as we say…drink the koolaid.

The root cause must be addressed. If a person can’t buy illegal drugs, then they can’t get hooked on them. Tougher laws are required to get the dealers and their suppliers off of the street and put behind bars. Forget politics, whichever political party is willing to make this happen should be who we vote for.

What a great thing this is. Our city could use more of these type of neighbourhood events.
