Actually, the politics never entered my mind while watching the games and I hope others are enjoying it as such as well! Can’t we just enjoy a break from the politics once in a while? C’mon…
Kids don’t need iPhones. If a parent needs to contact their child at school can’t they call the office? Especially in the elementary grades, 1-8. It’s ridiculous to hand a child an iPhone, you’re giving them access to a world full of creeps and walking away. They haven’t developed the awareness of the dangers and consequences of putting themselves out there on the internet. Protect their innocence as long as you can by not giving them an iPhone. If you need to be in contact with them as they start to go out with friends in their early teens, just give them a flip phone so they can call you. Perhaps when they turn 16 and start to drive this would be a good time to give them an iPhone, to be helpful with directions and locations.
What??? Wait a minute!?!?….I thought the YMCA was run by the city?? Who owns the YMCA?? If the city doesn’t own it then perhaps they should buy it…how much was pd for the downtown plaza??
I added up the tax on my grocery receipts for the month of November and oh boy I wish Trudeau would have implemented this tax cut plan earlier I could have saved a grand total of $2.68! 😆 What a joke! To put this burden on businesses at this time of year and then flip it back is just ridiculous! Also, he should have implemented this beginning of November as most people probably have the majority of their Christmas shopping done by December 14!!
lol….absolutely right! This is winter in the north country! I remember about 25 years ago when our kids were wee ones we headed out in the afternoon to Goulais for a family Christmas dinner and plowing through about 2 feet of fluffy new snow on the way home in the evening! Big dumps of snow is something we Northerners take in stride and some actually are thrilled to see!
I wonder if those who voted against hanging a picture of King Charles will be observing the Victoria Day statutory holiday as they don’t feel the monarchy deserves any recognition? Hopefully they show up to work on Monday!
So our kids are told in school that violence is not the answer when another child bullies them but now they see all these adults justifying “elbows up” ie. fighting, calling for all Canadians to get their fists up to throw a punch? How is this civil? Aren’t we better than this? I have many friends and relatives that are U.S. citizens, many Canadians playing on U.S. sports teams, are all you Sidney Crosby fans going to burn your Pittsburgh Penguins jersey? Be proud to be Canadian, but quit all this ‘elbows up’ violence gesturing. It’s embarrassing and not the Canadian way.
Why is it that this story is open for comments but the latest story “Singh says NDP will bring forward a non-confidence motion…” is closed to comments??
Also, mortgages taken out back to back years 2013 and 2014 of 3.4 and 3.8 million? What was that for? Didn’t see any major improvements made to any of the GHC buildings at that time.
@LovetheNorth - The doctors have been given a 10% raise in the first year of a 4 year deal and are still in negotiations. You keep posting that statement while it isn’t an issue.
“Ottawa's plan to scoop up the surplus in the public sector pension plan is theft.” Quit fear mongering and pay attention to what is happening right now! “On Nov. 25, Treasury Board President Anita Anand tabled two actuarial reports which showed the Public Service Pension Plan exceeds its legislated surplus threshold by $1.9-billion. In response, the Liberals announced plans to scoop up that money and stick it into the Consolidated Revenue Fund – a central government bank account.” How about that?
Why is the highway still closed? On Ontario 511 the hwy appears clear even on the camera views. The transport drivers must be going insane sitting there! It’s a 1 1/2 drive from where it is closed at Batchawana to Wawa.
Cut the lock, trap door opens, down goes the thief…kinda same measures as keeping them out of substation but without the crocodiles…and maybe a backup bear trap or two…
