Ours is now worth 23 billion and Norway’s is worth somewhere in excess of 1.62 trillion. That’s right trillion. With a capital T. The major difference between our two regions is we’ve had to suffer through an almost constant stream of conservative governments that seem to think the trust fund is their personal piggybank. Alberta needs to find a more effective style of government, one that actually looks to the future and plans out what needs to be done to make our province a better place. Right now we have a government that looks as far as the next election and only thinks of what can be done to get themselves re-elected. They seem to revel in pulling the wool over our eyes and consolidating power and decision making in their hands. As long as these clowns are running things we are never going to get anywhere.

OkotoksToday 1Dippers:no the main reason that Norway has as much as they do in their trust fund is that they told big oil to suck it way back in the 70’s. They make the oil companies pay their fair share and deposit a majority of that into the fund, unlike the conservative government in Alberta at the same time. The conservatives told the oil companies here to do what they want and pay what you want, we’ll clean up after you don’t you worry about that. It’s only the environment after all. And as long as the proper people keep getting their kick back cheques they’ll get to keep ripping off alberta. And I don’t believe that the liberal or ndp would do any better, in my eyes they’re all criminals that are doing their best to loot Canada clean, stealing everything not nailed down.

Time to restructure Canada post and make it a viable, affordable alternative to all the other shipping companies out there.
