President Joe Biden drops out of the 2024 race after disastrous debate inflamed age concerns

I cannot, I simply cannot understand the mentality of those who in any way could endorse a Trump presidency. You may be jaded and wish to make a joke out of politics, but if one thing is certain, you won't be laughing should Trump be elected because this time around, with the current U.S. Supreme Court and the rest of his entourage in place, a legitimate 2028 election is not in the cards. All hail emperor Trump and his demented agenda? Think twice.

Is this a joke? Those two and their harebrained ideas and now they're concerned about the condition of city streets? What do they think the citizens have been howling about for many many years, to no avail? This from the ones who propose pools for the St. Marys River at tremendous expense.

Integrity commissioner? A misnomer if ever there was one. Since when does forcefully giving an opinion and taking someone to task for that which one legitimately perceives as totally ill-advised constitute a lack of integrity? If anything, given that it was done in the public interest, something all elected officials are entrusted to safeguard, what Mr. Kinach did was the epitome of integrity and quite refreshing. I do believe the polling and public response to this controversy showing overwhelming support for Mr. Spinach should put the matter of contemplating punishment for Mr. Kinach to rest. The threat of loss of pay and/or reprimand is totally inappropriate in this case as it smacks of intimation toward someone who has the guts to speak to power on BEHALF OF THE PEOPLE. As for Mr. Kinach, whatever he decides is fine with me, but should he be financially penalized, I will gladly contribute to any fund set up to reimburse him for his loss. Stephan Kinach for mayor!

Fine, but let's not elect a worse clown to replace him. And Poilievre, I'm afraid, may well fill the bill in that department. At the moment, there simply are no good options.

At the rate things are going, restaurants are going to price themselves out of existence one way or another. Paying $3 and even $9 dollars for a pre-meal house salad!? Sure, there was a lettuce crisis, but it's over and a lot of these salads don't even give you the benefit of lettuce. It's gotten to the point where I avoid certain restaurants because of this. And yet, East Side Mario's gives you endless bowls of salad. It's enough to make you wonder...and fume.

Disgusting. It is now indisputable. Those members of council who voted this down have no respect for the will of the people. The people must remove them come the next election. The will of the people must prevail in a democracy and those who flagrantly choose to ignore the will of the people have no business representing the people. Of course, when it comes to this council, we should not be surprised. This issue was of a simple nature, there was nothing of great consequence at stake, public opinion was apparently quite clear, and yet it was ignored. That's enough evidence to show that as a group, the majority of this council, led by the mayor will do as it pleases with apparent total disregard for public opinion. Once again, vote them out.

A bit of a drama queen you say? Why am I not surprised? What a stink she makes. One has to wonder why.

Well what can I say? other than boys will be boys. I hope they were simply reprimanded and warned without being subject to the officious, overzealous, heavy handed repercussions of extended legal ramifications. It sounds like the damage must have been quite limited given that none are mentioned. To coin an expressin from the report, an expression I simply detest due to its absurdidty, the boys were simply "reaching out" to one another.

In this day and age, everything is top secret, especially when it comes to road closures. Why give reasons when you don't have to, particularly when they could be very questionable?

If you don't like the police here, go to Timmins, you'll like them a lot less. Miles of municipal wilderness highway, a cop seemingly behind every tree, and ticket giving sprees. Our police are just fine, thank you very much.

To move people away from their loved ones in their old age is reprehensible. Isn't it bad enough that we in the north often have to travel far for necessary health care? Now we are expected to travel over twice as far as our southern counterparts to visit our aged loved ones? This is totally unacceptable and representative of inconsiderate governance.

keemo, yours is a comment beyond contempt. It's this kind of foolish and gratuitous input that stifles meaningful discussion with those of your ilk.

Thumbs down to what ProudCanadian wrote?! Beyond belief and I don't mean what it is that ProudCanadian said. Shameful, simply shameful and so very discouraging to see even just one thumbs down to what was written, let alone 17 to this point.

So they're repaving the parking lot. If they didn't, you'd complain about that.

In my opinion, with the Canadian dollar being kept artificially low versus the US dollar, and no adjustment to the bridge fares to alleviate the impact, why would Canadians who cross in greater numbers want to pay more than their U.S, coiunterparts to cross the bridge? And you'd think that with fewer people crossing, and the current state of affairs, any kind of increase in bridge fares would be out of the question. I guess those who do cross are paying so much as to make up for the loss in crossing frequency.

Shocking! A highway closure in northern Ontario. Farcical. Simply farcical. I know this highway well and traveled it in all kinds of condittions..................in the past when winter highway maintenance in this part of the province was still in effect.

This ultra sensitive society with its sensitivity and privacy commissioners and the like can often be counter productive and infused with political correctness. This is one of those instances. The fact is that Councillor Kinach, in my opinion, is absolutely correct and only speaking out for what I suspect is representative of the majority of Sault Ste. Marie residents. Not respecting the views of the citizenry of this city is very telling of some members of this council and should be remembered come the next municipal election.

Quote from the city: Restoring the roads to optimal conditions may take longer than usual. " I ask, what is longer than usual? If road conditions are in any way considered usual since that major snowfall over a month ago, with narrow roads and street corners that continue to pose a real danger pulling away from, then I guess usual has become a very low bar.

Why start at the downtown plaza? Why not Roberta Bondar Place? Oh yeah, they wouldn't want to remind everyone that we already had an outdoor gathering and entertainment place and didn't need to spend $11.6 million dollars on another one.
