This also showed us the huge issue of unprotected and unmanaged Fruit bearing trees. A substantial number of cubs were rescued in such trees, showing us firsthand that their mom’s had been lured into town by the available fruit and paid with their lives. We feel strongly that this is avoidable and needs to be changed. This is all of our problems, not one organization, business, industry, municipality or person, but all of us together.We call on municipalities and private landowners to remove unfenced fruit trees to avoid luring bears into town. Canmore Alberta has a comprehensive program that has proven very successful, and we urge BC communities to adopt a similar approach.

PrinceGeorgeCitizen 11If you have ever been in a forest that has been sprayed, you will know it. There is not a single thing alive in the area. No birds, no bugs, nothing. It is so eerie. This issue has been going on long enough and needs to stop. I had a meeting with the Ministry of Forests, Ministry of Environment in 2010. Both representatives told me Vision Max, i.e., DDT, would not harm wild life and would not get into our food chain from wildlife eating deciduous sprayed trees. We are killing our wildlife and having this product in our food chain and watershed. This greed of growing harvest-able trees while killing food for wildlife, and destroying our watersheds has to stop. Aspen is a slow burning tree so removing them from the landscape also encourages wildfire activity getting out of control. Instead of spraying deciduous trees we should be looking at ways to sustainably harvest them. This is an election year for the province. Ask local candidates what they are going to do about this!

If there is an enforcement fine for each incident of garbage left out early, or fruit trees not picked, you could probably supply the new bins for free. Add the fine to property taxes if not paid within 30 days, plus interest.

Impounding for a minimum of six months for lesser cases and "Seizure" of vehicles for the worst infractions for vehicle resale is the answer. No persons of conviction, their friends or family would not qualify to purchase seized vehicles. Yes, , we will need a parking lot for seized vehicles up for sale at the beginning of the program but volume should decrease if the police are given the right tools to confiscate. (Think Richie Bros. old lot) This provincial government also needs to hire more police in this province to handle the influx of new people moving into BC.

This is so outdated. Every major city in Europe have Public washrooms in their downtown core. If they can do this, why can't PG? You just need to let patrons know the washrooms are staffed. Perhaps business's could get on board by being a sponsor or securing financial support for this endevour. Try looking for solutions.
