‘Shoe’ kicks off election campaign

Tone deaf mayor, you see him when he runs a campaign then he's a ghost. Raises taxes yearly to households that are struggling with the economic time and layoffs/job losses. Sault ste marie needs a blue collar mayor, not someone who is only using the position as a stepping stone to bigger political things. His biggest achievement was a double decker bus 👍.

The biggest dud of a city councilor the sault has ever seen, our tax dollars paying for her salary at council and she's done nothing but have her own personal agenda to benefit herself, hey shoelace what's the repercussion for not attending and doing her civil duty?

I believe when you run you are agreeing to put yourself in that position for criticism online, via email etc. This is the day and age we live in and it is not going to change anytime soon, people have the right to their own opinion. Let's keep in mind these councilors are being paid a salary from our tax payer money, it comes with the job and unfortunately you'll never make everyone happy.

Liberals are only popular in the 60+ age range. Other polls done online have shown conservatives being more popular in every other age range, this is the importance of the younger generations getting out to vote. my opinion is liberal will always be more popular with older generation, they come from the days of paying 30k-60k for a home, the reality of life for the younger generation in this day and age is we are taxed beyond what's fair, housing prices are sky high, property taxes, gas, Puc. The amount of money you need to make in this day and age gives the younger generation no chance. Pierre will bring home stronger pay checks for the working class, that's what Canada needs at this time. Under the liberals I believe it will only get worse and more expensive. The rich will get richer while the working class struggles. Enough is enough. Here's to hoping the younger generation gets out to vote.

I'd like to see what the city's plan is to attract new business downtown and make it a beautiful main street everyone can enjoy. There's so much potential in our downtown core and it's wasted empty buildings. We have already wasted our beautiful waterfront where the old hospital was, imagine the summer potential to attract tourism and local traffic. Something for the citizens to actually do in our warmer months. Every one of our councilors including shoelace should go to Kingstons downtown core and make some notes it screams pride of their city,of Canada and it's thriving. Our downtown core the only screams you hear is a cracker tweakin his way down the street past his buddies with folded over with their foreheads on the cement.

Alot of times the bands don't have any say in price of a ticket they are generally booked for gig and those details are up to promoter. For what it's worth it's gonna be a premier act with a great local band opening in probably one of the smallest venues you will ever see them. If you love Ozzy go check it out? This city should NEVER be negative about musical acts coming to town cause it doesn't happen often.

What about steel? China dumps steel into our market lowering pricing steel? What would that do to the members of your union how would it help Algoma steel?

Our tax dollars hard at work again... The shoemaker way! Ignore the problem, blow off the people, continue showing he could care less for the people in this city

I think it's a draw but I think the bands that play regularly around town and draw crowds at Esquire, water tower etc should be the featured highly, gives them a chance to showcase themselves to people who may not visit the bar scene. There's some amazing bands in this town that deserve recognition

The fact it happened so fast tells me Mr shoelace only did it for some sort of benefit on his part. Even the poll on here no one wanted that to happen then Boom it was done. I hope the DTA looks for legal action against this. Reason #3489 why shoemaker is not the right person for the job and has no interest in making this city a better place for the people in it. From day 1 it was just a stepping stone for him to move on to bigger better things. Time to vote in someone who cares.

What else do you think is gonna happen when you only roll two lines in a high pace two periods. Wore out by third and drop another loss, rinse and repeat again and again and again

He will just raise our taxes again to cover costs. We have truly never had a more tone deaf mayor. Economy struggling? Inflation at an all time high? Let's raise property taxes again! Shoelace your a joke

Rotaryfest showcases the saults best musical talent on 2 diff stages. That's what it's all about. You can show up at almost anytime and catch a local band on 2 diff stages. It's a beautiful thing and gives the Insane local musical talent stages to showcase their craft for people who may not want to go to a bar later at night to see them. Hiring out of town bands like that would go against the whole idea. They have one big headliner and generally they close out sat night with a local band headlining Saturday night after the out of town band to close the weekend.
