Don’t worry they will all be gone before winter like every other year. It’s not a housing crisis. More like they would rather do drugs and not follow laws crisis. And organizations that coddle drug addicts while giving them the supplies to do said drugs. Coles the roundabout court house and stop allowing open drug use. You can build as many villages you want it will NEVER solve our problems. Compassion can only go so far.

Why is this news? I don't see you reporting about the countless criminals that breach bail and parole daily at the courthouse. And who cares what the guy tattoos on himself during day parole. It's his skin. It's not against any law. It's not a ganag tattoo. Not sticking up for the kid but just seems weird you go out of your way to report this yet there is litterally a line of bail breachers/parole breachers at the courthouse daily.

We get it, you’re liberal shills. Too bad sock puppet Trudeau will be gone. Even his own mp’s want him gone.

They try to stop every single project done in this area. People gotta stop thinking humanity started 2000 years ago. Any where you dig you are bound to find something if you go deep enough. The planet has been here for 4.6 billion years, and humans 200-300 thousand years ago. Nobody owns land, just occupies it for a period of time. The land will be there for millions of years more, you not so much. The plant has been there for decades expanding it won’t make a difference. Stop pulling at straws to get attention. If you want power for your fancy green cars then we need to expand our grids. And since people are terrified of nuclear, blocking rivers and taking up land for panels/windmills is the only option left. Never ending circle of nonsense.

Wanna know how to reduce the homeless population ? Close the revolving door at the courthouse. Most if not all people living in these tents have a laundry list of previous charges and breaches because the courts keep pushing them back out with no deposit bail. Trudeaus canada for you. We never had tent city 8 years ago....

Not allowing open drug use and alcohol use shouldn’t be an argument. It should be law. Whoever decided to let open drug use is the root cause of the majority of the issues our city currently faces.

It’s not up to the city to house people. When do we get to vote on this? We as a city don’t want this. If they build this will they enforce strict rules on no campsites outside the village? Somehow I doubt it. The bleeding heart city clowncil needs to go. 6 million to build TEMPORARY shelter.

Allowing people to do drugs in a government funded building should have never been a thing. Allowing people to do drugs is NOT the answer. More and more cities are shutting these down because they DO NOT WORK. The director of this site is just mad she no longer can milk the cash cow. Safe consumption is NOT treatment. It's enabling people to do drugs and thats it. Use the funding for actual treatment centers. And crime and gangs have gone up since these policies were put in place. Offer them treatment or jail. No more coddling addicts. Our city has turned into a cespool since this all started. The fact that they are trying to argue to keep a drug site NEXT to a school is beyond ludicris. Like give your head a shake.

Lol she should say the same of her own party. The people have spoken dems and liberals are done. We are tired of their policies and how the country is going down the tubes.

How about we just don’t build it period. It’s not up to taxpayers or government to pay to house junkies. Until we stop open drug use and still have agencies like elevate be and path 525 this problem will never go away. Treatment before enabling.

And they will be released once again to reoffend. A laundry list of charges but still out in the public. Clearly suspending his license didn't do anything. These people need time behind bars.

I think the majority of the peoiple in this city has gotten tired of the "human rights" aproach. We have rights too. We are tired of our stuff being stolen, our cars being broken into, people sleeping in our doorways, the constant pan handling, the open drug use, the trash blowing throw our city because they dig through garbage bins looking for metal, and not to mention the stuff they leave behind at the "camp" sites. The problem doesn't start with lack of housing, it starts with soft on crime mentalities de criminalization of open drug use and safe injection sites. Telling people it's okay to use drugs and give them supplies while not prosecuting them for drug related crimes (theft, dealing, possesion) is the root of ALL our problems with these encampments. There is a reason that guy won't leave, he can't live the way he wants in a building with other people. We need to get rid of "no deposit" bail and stop promoting drug use.

How about when you are biking beside a golf course KEEP YOUR HEAD UP AND PAY ATTENTION!! Not everything needs to be nerfed in this world. I bike through there every single day and no issues or feeling unsafe. They do realize the recreational trail goes all the way throughout the course right? People won’t be happy until everything is bubble wrapped.

We get it you are a troll. It’s obvious by every one of your comments. Grow up. It’s not up to us to house the homeless. Time they take responsibility for their own actions.

Stolen cars have been a real problem lately. And that’s straight from police’s mouths. This city has turned into an absolute swamp. Something needs to be done and soon. We can’t keep going on the track we are on. Either that or you will see more and more people just pack up and leave. Cops are tapped out, they just can’t keep up. The streets have turned into an absolute nightmare. The city is far from safe. Unless it’s welded or bolted down it will go missing.

I don’t know who needs to hear this but letting people do drugs and encouraging it, is not treatment. I don’t get how they can sleep at night knowing they are advocating for junkies or children. Needle sites are not helping the drug problem. They just make it worse. And they certainly don’t belong around schools.

Only way to solve it is stop voting liberal. Liberal soft on crime and open drug use policies have directly caused this. Safe needle sites etc.

You can build all the places you want they still will destroy them. If there are any rules they have to follow it won’t be used just like the salvation army’s beds. They have to be sober to go there hence why they are empty the majority of the time. I as a tax payer do not approve of 4 million dollars for TEMPORARY SHELTERS! Where did they come up with this number? Is Tom jones going to be building it is that why they are saying it will cost that much? We don’t need a “human rights” approach it will never work. We need tough love and rules they have to follow like everyone else in society. Stop allowing open drug use, stop pushing safe needle sights and government funded drug dens. Start building treatment facilities. This city council and the liberal mentality needs to go. I’m sick of booting drug addicts out of my apartment front doors and overhangs. I’m sick of the garbage everywhere and I’m sick of cops doing ZERO about open drug use directly in front of them. Canada is failing.

HUMAN RIGHTS APROACH DOES NOT WORK!!! When is this council gunna start listening to the people and not pander to drug addicts. These tents are almost all gone in the winter. Stop enabling this. People that pay taxes here are just going to start moving away. We are fed up with this nonsense. Liberal soft on crime and open drug use policies have caused this and nothing else. This has got to STOP! Council is gone next election, every single last one of them. Especially Shelby!
