Sad Day for the North with this announcement. Shirley had a lot of clout and used it to benefit the North. Now it will all be all about the lower mainland and a little Okanagan/Vancouver Island thrown in. We already see it with the NDP.Also seems to me that this was an All about Kevin Falcon decision. I still wish Shirley had stayed to Run the party and not supported Falcon as party leader!Thank You Shirley for standing up for the North!
I find this very disturbing that those who are tasked with, or chose to go into the field of upholding the law. Chose to try to adapt it to their perspective. I have the utmost respect for those in law enforcement. Those on the streets now days have a Very difficult job. But demanding and trying to intimidated someone recording is not acceptable. If the officer(s) were convinced they were doing his due diligence then they would not be concerned with people recording. They other argument would be if officer wore a body camera and less intimidating people probably wouldn't be so inclined to pull out there phones or recording devices.I also find it interesting how the officers lawyer is quick to cite that it took too long for these charges or trial to unfold. However if it were the other way with Mr Culver (my condolences and heart to the family) being charged and taking that long. That would just be the the judicial process. But that's just my opinion.
I don't understand how housing prices can rise in a city that is losing its Major Industry Employers in the Mills. How many mills have shut down in the last 5 years. What new industry is employing these people. This tells me it's either people moving from the Lower Mainland or Okanagan because it's too expensive or it is Immigration fueling this! There is no other explanations that can warrant this increase other than of course greed of Government! These assessments need to be challenged because any person in their right mind would argue. Otherwise that value should be going down at Prince George not up.
I am very disappointed in seeing that sort of comments coming from Tim! I won't attack you personally but will call you out politically. There'd be no Canada if not for the battle of 1812 b/c then Canada would've been the 51st state for sure. But that's right we stopped teaching that because its colonialism! The little Prince is a cherished little piece of history that deserves funding.I believe all public funding, including that directed toward Indigenous programs, should be subject to thorough and transparent audits to ensure it all reaches the communities it's meant to support. We've seen instances where funds have been mismanaged by city officials and others diverted by intermediaries. A stronger oversight would help protect those resources, promote accountability, & build public trust. This isn’t about reducing support for the Little Prince or other programs—it's about making sure it’s effective, equitable, & improving outcomes on the ground. Remember that next election Tim.
Are you kidding me? Our mayor is corrupt as can be. Not only should he be accusing himself he should step down his mayor! Mr. Yu has done nothing for this city. Over half this Council along with it and certainly all city managers should be turfed. A mass cleaning house up at the top is what is needed. And a city Prince George's says there's no reason for anyone to be making six figures when it's falling to nothing but crime and decrepit drug decay. But yet we're going to applaud the so-called fundamental mayor for recusing himself from a discussion wellie's got his hand in our pockets. Is this kind of blind hypocrisy that has led to the decay of our society?
I see no need for a low level municipal mayor to be taking a trip to a foreign country. Even if it's on their dime. Though Taiwan is not mainland China one has to wonder why would they pay for a small city mayor to come and what they're going to expect in return!?To say Mr Yu is doing a good job that's like saying Mr Trudeau was a good for Canada. What exactly has he done for PG? I don't see any new industries here in the city to make up for the closure of the Mills. Do we see any new commercial development? Has our infrastructure been fixed or do we even have a plan for it to be fixed? Has he saved us money? No, he's just raised taxes along with the rest of city council. Does Mr Yu lobby the province for more money considering Prince George serves the north!? That to me would be what a good mayor would do!
How about instead of wasting money on Big Brother watching crack & meth using folks and their dealers. The city and government put these folks in treatment and invest in that money back into those whose properties have been vandalized or damaged. Or in cops who will stop letting the zombies walk the downtown and put the dealers in prison. Instead of letting them walk and hoping to turn them into a snitch or informant for the so called bigger fish.
This is a joke it took a year for this case to be tried. They are found with Drugs, guns which they're not to be in possession of and $9,000. But yet the sympathetic Trudeau, Eby loving judge only charges 1 of them and gives them a lesser charge. Mean while the other one walks away free to continue on with their drug dealing. Why bother having a court and judges if they're just going to let them off. It's just a turn style at the RCMP detachment is all it is. Mean while we can't defend our selves in our own home without being charged. When one of these crack loving thieves breaks into our homes. All while our taxes keep going up because we have to pay for the police to constantly chase these crack dealers and addicts. Not to mention pay for their safe supply and their welfare. No wonder Canada is turning into a crime infested, drug addicted waste land!
