Again, where is the mayor and city council. Most have decided not to run again. Fine. But you still have a fuduciary duty until the November election to intervene here and prevent a calamity. If a residence dies in there then what? What kind of city and society are we becoming by allowing elderly and/or disabled people to suffer like this? Has our city council no shame? That might as well be a rhetorical question because it seems tht they don't!

These Lyme disease-bearing ticks are becoming more invasive as the climate changes their environment. Lyme disease can cause severe and long-lasting effects on people. What is your issue anyway with facts, science and effective antibiotics and informing people of such? Where is the "fearmongering"?

Canadian federal goverment has nothing to do with how the province spends its federal equailization transfer payments. Provincial governments decide on how to fight fires and how much to allocate each year. We didn't have this problem 50 years ago because we had a proper fire/forestry management system and each provincial government has been robbing Peter to pay Paul. Just amazing that a small Mom 'n Pop shop can survive and thrive in these times, especially being just down the road from Grandview Mall & especially when COVID drove many other small businesses out of business. Many others haven't fully recovered even years later. Three things answer that question: customer service, customer service and customer service. And you may take 1 to 4 DOSES (meaning pills or sometimes a liquid antibiotic) each day for the prescribed COURSE, depending on the antibiotic prescribed. The city recently discovered a massive multimillion dollar surplus. It could easily purchase Vickers Manor/McKellar Place, pay the outstanding bills, do any required upgrades then find a proper management company to run it on behalf of the city. The city owns many such facilities. I'm certain that the city can also get provincial and federal monies if they so desired. But they have no desire because a good number aren't standing for re-election so why bother caring anymore. As if the gas and electrical companies are hard up with their CEO's being paid high-end 6-figure salaries. It's rather telling that Tbaytel isn't threatening to cut phone and cable services. If the mayor wanted to use his super-mayor powers, then this is the time to do it. Seize the property and throw out the current "managment". The city has some excellent "get er down attitude" managers who could turn that place around before the summer is over. I just can't imagine the stress those poor people are dealing with!

Brita or other types of in-house added water purification filters/systems (5-stage reverse osmosis systems et al.) can remove lead plus the umpteen other chemicals in or added to potable water. It's a lot cheaper than digging up and replacing your water line. 0.005 mg/LThe maximum allowable concentration of lead in drinking water in the City of Montréal is set at 0.005 mg/L, or 5 ppb (parts per billion), but Ontario considers 10 ppb to be "safe." If our elected politicians, who drink Perrier on our dime, can't even agree upon one national standard, then what are ordinary citizens to do? Our city council couldn't even agree on the shape of a circle, let alone look out for the safety of their constituents, IMHO. End rant.

At the very least install 5-stage reverse osmosis water filtration systems to the water supply line in each residence and apartment complex. They are relatively inexpensive (< $500) and would cost the city nothing since city workers have to be paid regardless if they are installing these systems or not. I watched them install a new water meter in my line years ago, and there's nothing to it. So ditto for adding reverse osmosis water filtration systems after the water meter. But our city council wants to build monuments to themselves instead. Making and unmaking the same decisions and then non-decisions over and over. In southern Ontario, we are referred to as "Blunder Bay" without any trace of sarcasm used. It's just a political fact well known to all Ontario MPPs

Reply to Nonytabiz, wait until youre in your late 70's or 80's and are havining a hard time hearing, seeing, comprehending or using your hands and/or legs because of arthritis and the other joys of getting older. Some are in their 40's and struggle with the simpliest of tasks. Many can't hold a smartphone or credit crad need assistance. So where are the parking attendants who can assist? Even the handicap parking spots are inadequate at the Regional. You will need 10x that many in the next 10 years, at least. We'll see how smug you are then, sir.

Today's high-potency products carry bigger risks than the cannabis your grandparent or parents tried in the 1980s (20% THC concentrates, at best), but today, some concentrates are hitting 80-90% THC. But the real danger is children who get into their' edibles face genuine danger, they are hundreds each day in Canada going to ED/ER departments, and some have ended up on ventilators in intensive care units. And smoking marijuana isn't good for your lungs, either. Liquid THC and edibles (locked up, if you have kids) is the best way because your body slowly metabolizes it (30-60 minutes). With smoking you can go from sober to stoned in minutes.

The Mayor tried to make it all about religion, race and culture, which is not the case. He just doesn't get it. There are llierrally dozens of city own properties that aren't parks that are much larger than 3 acres that could have been used and would have been far more suitable. I wonder who actually approached who. I doubt if the Muslim Religious Association approached the city and said "Can we buy some parkland? Just declare it surplus and only allow us to purchase it." This sticks to high heaven and I'm certain that the Mayor is playing the shame-blame game to hide his and others' cuplability in the matter. Why was this kept secret for two years and then suddenly sprung on the public? For shame. For shame. For shame.
