I have had a yearly pass for a few years now, and I won't renew with these service hours. They are terrible. I think it's a mistake to compare the closure of the Aquatic Center with the closure of the Four Seasons Pool while the Canfor Pool was under construction. The Canfor Pool is much smaller and can't support nearly as many people. This reduction in hours clearly shows that.
I am disappointed with EGBC. I understand that some accommodations are required to keep the system fair, but it has been almost a year. When will the delays stop and the hearing proceed? If the mayor is repeatedly using "mayoral duties" as an excuse, EGBC must put their foot down and ask, "what about your duties as a professional engineer?" It's the same duty that every engineer has and the mayor is no exception.
Bargaining in public is never a good sign. Get back to the bargaining table with a mediator to sort this out. The public deserves a well functioning regional district, not one embroiled in a sour labour dispute.
I hope the repairs are done swiftly, it's rough to be displaced. The hard thing is, if the fire was caused intentionally or by gross negligence by a resident, what can BC Housing do? Evict them and put them on the street? That's exactly what we're trying to avoid.
