Two official languages. That's enough. Focus on teaching all Ontario children those two languages with the highest proficiency possible. Their native languages can be taught to them at home. We need to be bringing our citizens together.
Hopefully the City will reject such an idea. This is just a fancier version of a tent encampment, but made permanent. It will condense and concentrate anti-social behavior. It will be the kiss of death to any community it will be in the vicinity of. No family will want to live near it, no child nor parent will feel safe. Crime with spike--property ( theft and vandalism), drug and gun, and violence (assault or worse). Most disturbing of all, it will be the hardworking tax payers of Guelph who will have to foot the bill for all of this cancerous and destructive behavior, effectively giving support to it, when it should be irradicated. There can be no reasonable argument that hard drugs should be tolerated in our society; they are a scourge and the proof of their destructiveness of right before our eyes.
Immigration? Actually, legally we have two official languages. Most Ontarians can't speak French in an even passable manner. Shouldn't we be putting all our energy and resources in those two languages? As for immigration, it should be obvious to anyone coming to this country that we have two official languages, and their children should be focusing on those languages.
We have two official languages. These are not elective language classes. Basic education should be in the two official languages. New comers have to adapt.
Prfrom315....we all get that they are not teaching the language, but in the language. There are two languages of official business in Canada. French and English. New comers must know this when they come. Their children should only be taught in the two official languages. It will force quicker integration.
Privatize the sale of alcohol and beer. We have done that in Ontario to Marijuana and tobacco. The sky hasn't fallen. Privatized sales will lead to competition and cheaper prices. Privatized sellers will employee people.Privatized sellers will take care of their own overhead, including property rentals, etc....saving taxpayers.Privatized sellers will not come with the bureaucracy that seems to metastasize whenever government is involved.Let the market sort it out with limited minimal oversight; just like with Marijuana.
We have all seen what tent cities look like (remember the city centre?), with the squalor, garbage, used needles, propane tanks and litter lying around. All these "tiny houses" will do--especially when congregated together into a "community"- is give the residences of this "community" housing to trash. $28,000.00 per unit! Good Lord! And, I suspect the unit will need to be completely overhauled in less than a year; and then there will be a cycle of taxes paid to repair the ongoing destruction of these units. No doubt, the city will need to hire some employees (high salary and pensions) to oversee it all, and the social service providers, will have to hire to! Everyone will come out better off; just not the taxpayers who are footing the bill.
