Trump calls PM ‘Governor Carney,’ threatens huge tariffs over China trade deal

Last I heard, Canada was not under trump's rule. Did any of you listen to Carney's speech at the WEF? He was plainly stating that countries like Canada needed to work together and that we would be trading with various countries for different things and it didn't necessarily mean that those countries shared our values. It's time to get trump out of the news and focus on Canada.

Why is either government bothering with "talks"? As of yet, they have accomplished nothing except to give trump the attention he desires. He's like a small child having a temper tantrum and should be treated the same way. It would also be nice if the media could cut back on their coverage of this. It's the same thing every day, nothing changes. You're giving him exactly what he wants.

Why don't we just leave things as they are without purposely involving ourselves in the chaos that's going on around us right now more than we absolutely have to.

I was born in North Bay and it has never been a place where there were lots of jobs. What we don't need right now are more Skip drivers, more fast food workers and less places to live. You have to build upon what you have before you invite more people to move into a community.

Who would want to be part of the U.S.? Is the media hard up for news? Most of us are sick of hearing about trump, musk and all the rest. Give it a break.

No.

But it's ok for them to come on your property and help themselves to your belongings with no consequences whatsoever? What about my expectation and right to privacy? Things get more backward every day. When it gets to the point that the majority of citizens need outdoor security cameras something is obviously wrong.

Hub should ideally be located in a large city that has enough services. While I understand the need for support for our own citizens, we're not responsible for helping everyone that shows up in North Bay because they've heard it's a great place to get things free while not being held responsible for their criminal actions. Support should be for the mentally ill from North Bay and for those who had homes here but lost them through no fault of their own. Citizens from other cities should be taken care of by their own municipality and not sent here. Why can't the city handle this?

We've all heard enough about this. The bears were never consulted by Scollard, I doubt there are any living Trojans to advise West Ferris and when Widdifield had the wildcats I didn't hear a peep.

As overheard on a city bus two days ago, the encampment from Third Ave. is moving down to Booth Road. This from two very loud individuals in the seat behind us who were apparently members of the encampment. Just an FYI for anyone who has a business or who lives in the area. Booth has a lot of bush and there have been several fires lately near/at some of the encampments.

I never thought I would see the day when so many people in this country would be homeless. I don't understand what started it all. I'm a senior and it scares me to see everything that we worked so hard for over the decades just falling apart. I have some ideas on what might have kept it from happening but I'm not the person who gets to sign on the dotted line.

I find it disgusting that in a country like Canada, disabled people don't receive enough in payments to support themselves. The amount of money received by many seniors is almost as bad. In the meantime, Canada is giving money to other countries like Africa and India and throwing around money in this country on useless projects. Look after your own first.

Such drama! Everyone is offended so easily these days and makes a big deal out of such small things. Meanwhile, we have people defecating on Main St. in North Bay. Bay Today is running out of newsworthy items just like the large news networks.

Quit wasting the taxpayer's money with your "productive" conversations.

Maybe Ford could move to the u.s. along with his counterpart in Alberta. I always see his mouth moving but I've yet to see him do anything constructive, unless it involves alcohol. The PC party in this province is becoming a huge disappointment.

What's really sad is that we live in such a sick society where people feel it's actually ok to shoot someone's pet when there are so many other ways it could have been handled. It looks to me like the person who did this is the problem, not the (what appears to be) very tiny cat.

Maybe they could try that on Lakeshore in North Bay too, especially on nicer days. It's like a motorcycle marathon coming into the city and leaving again in the evening.

I'd like to see testing done on those who have multiple sclerosis, lupus, etc., in these areas and compare their glyphosate residue levels with the levels of people who don't live nearby. I've long thought that most of the auto-immune diseases were caused by ecological spraying.

God help us all because a lot of people commenting don't seem to know how the prime minister in Canada becomes prime minister!

Of course there was no response. To think there are so many people in this city that didn't have the smarts to vote someone in as mayor who would at least try to listen to what the constituents are asking of them.
