This is why we need a member of the legislature from a major party. Having a fringe representative, with no pull, no influence and no voice has let us down again. We have only the voters in Guelph to blame.

I do not understand how it's costing us any money. The land is vacant, we will create housing for 500 students, construction jobs and ongoing revenue for local business. How is this costing us money. If it was a regular apartment or condo, then yes, fees apply. But this is a specific student residential project, restricted to students, and desperately required.Give the development the green light and stop playing politics.

Thank goodness the council is working on the very important and essential problems that face our city.If they are able to solve this challenging and vital issue, it gives us hope that they will be able to tackle minor issues , such as transit, decaying roads, too many un-necessary bike lanes and homelessness.Keep up the good and pressing work!

The Sunshine list is out of date and no longer reflects true costs. When it was introduced, $100,000 was a LOT of money, not so much today. The amount of the threshold should be increase each year to reflect inflation. It started in 1996 and in todays dollars the amount should be $142,000.

How can a party of ONE be considered a MAJOR party? We have an ineffective MP who only gets any air time because the media feel the need to kowtow to the Greens.Lets get serious Guelph. Elect a representative from a real party that may be able to generate benefits for our community, not just sound bites for a fringe movement.

What is to be determined? We desperately need a second hospital. To abandon the current one, after all the monies spent to upgrade it would be foolish. If we had competent representation at Queens Park, this process would be underway. Get spades into the ground, stop delaying and start building!

First, the argument about all the money spent on the election is baseless. An election cost money, whether it's now or next year, it still cost money.Again Guelph has elected a meaning less candidate to the legislature. How can a party of 2, which has no official standing, can not influence policy and hold no sway over the decision making process, possibly be beneficial to our community? Mike gets invited to the leaders debates as a courtesy , not as a serious contender. If we ever expect to get our new hospital, get Hwy 7 built or address the other problems facing our city, we need a representative in Queens Park with the ear of the decision makers, not a vanity choice. We had a chance, but again we blew it.

Guelph needs a new hospital! The current building is outdated, overloaded and too small. We need to have strong representation at Queens park to get this most important issue addressed. If only we had an MPP with some pull, who could get the ball rolling. But alas, we have an ineffective and powerless member who has neither the influence or the authority to get anything done. Guelph will continue to suffer for the decision to elect a member of a fringe party to the job requiring influence and respect.

Because that would make too much sense. A standard design could be inexpensively modified to fit on any available piece of land. It would save money not only on initial construction, but in ongoing repairs and maintenance going forward.

The highway will never be built, so the whole thing is moot!

Truer words were never spoken.I don't understand how they are still in the positions they are. Clearly they don't know how to build a team.I used to be a regular attendee at Storm games, now I rarely go. Who want to pay to see losing . Not the fault of the players, it's the coaching and the management.Time for a housecleaning.

Think of all of the totally un-necessary bike lanes we could build with that money!Really, the shortage of student housing in Guelph is at a critical level. The cost of rental housing for everyone is driven up by the student problem. Not to mention the illegal and unsafe situations some students are forced to live in. Skip the development charges, allow the project to go ahead. The knock on benefits of the project (construction jobs, local supplier sales and freeing up rental properties for non-students) far outweigh the minimal cost to the city.

Why are you so angry?Where did your numbers come from? The chart shows 1404 in 2023 and 1931 in 2024.Its 37.5%.Its a problem regardless.
