10I was a spectator at multiple arenas this weekend and watched some great hockey. I am not condoning any of the behavior around any of the actions. To have only 2 referees on the ice was the reason these things got out of hand. 2 referees were not enough to keep up with the play and made either wrong calls or non-calls because they couldn't keep up. Every game I observed at multiple arenas. Some of these teams came from 8 hours away and spent a lot of $$$ to be here. So, I can understand the parents' frustrations. I am not condoning the outbursts at all. Tell me why were there only 2 refs on the ice? Imagine you shelled out over $1500/family to travel, lodge, eat and cover the cost of the tournament and watch your team get duped out of a win because of lack of control? It sets the tone for exactly what happened at every arena. It's not the refs at all it's not their fault either, pay for the 3rd or 4th ref instead of 3 DJs it was the ORGANIZER'S fault. He's responsible for it.

SooToday 5I never said that read my comment again...they fumbled calls because the game is too fast for 2 referees...they spend more on DJs all weekend and not referees...that is my point...President has fumbled this badly. It wasnt parents alone, the games got out of hand due to lack of control on the ice and coaches were acting poorly as a result...go watch a game

SooToday 3SaPhZ- when a referee losses control of a game , players can get seriously hurt. If your kid got hit from behind and there was no discipline or penalty, would you sit and say oh well he missed it, as you're feeding him through a straw?

SooToday 1is this what got our mayor a new necklace?would be nice of them to be transparent with it. Pretty high taxes in our city and this would offset a little, but I'm sure this money is ear marked already.
