If Kiel Giddens didn’t already have my vote, this would’ve sold it for me!

“ If Prince George and other municipalities speak up together and show Victoria that they are failing their citizens, Foley said it’s the only way the needle will move on the basic systemic changes needed.” and that right there is where Foley was cut off because that is exactly where council is failing. Yes they brought a letter from Daryl Leiski to Eby ar UBCM (sort of comes across as hiding behind a private citizen and business owner or at the very least, getting him to do the work for them). If you want change you have to get in front of every camera you can. Keep repeating the message to anyone who will listen. Become a thorn in the side of Victoria. Make this an issue that will cost them votes!! It may not cost them votes here, but other municipalities might start speaking up as well.Council may not be doing “nothing” but I’d say they’re close enough.

Thank goodness they were immediately released after robbery, fleeing from police, and reckless endangerment that caused injury to an innocent person! For a moment I was worried our community was going to be slightly safer.

Withall called Smith a “very recognizable person, with some distinct features.” - You don’t say…Wild idea here, but maybe next time you could try not releasing him? Worst case scenario is he can’t commit more crime and shows up for his next hearing! Just saying…

At the end of the day, politicians at all levels of government are more worried about their reelection than our businesses, and they think that real action will lose them too many votes from one particular end of the political spectrum.

“Beynon’s criminal record shows a history of escalating violence against intimate partners and of flouting no contact orders – he was under one for allegedly assaulting Monk a few months before the incident”“A brain injury suffered as a teenager, a troubled upbringing, a lifetime of drug use and a penchant for turning violent while intoxicated on alcohol were seen as reasons for his behaviour.”So… he’s going to spend less time behind bars because his history makes him an increasingly dangerous person? Ok, makes sense!

Harsher penalties for animal cruelty convictions are long overdue.

Is anyone ever held and not released?

What a great court system we have! I love the idea of incentivizing indolence and incompetency. Basically, if you don’t do your job, and hold out long enough, you won’t have to do anything at all! Don’t worry though! Your pay check and pension are secure. Why work when you’re going to get paid regardless?

Thank goodness these private stores can still order product that BC Liquor has already bought and paid for. Better than sitting on thousands of cases of paid-for product for no reason.

I find it interesting that there is always that one person in here just downvoting everyone’s comments, even the fairly benign ones like Alucard’s.Go on! Speak up then! Let’s hear what your opinion is.

I find it amusing that there are 2 people out there desperately downvoting anyone who suggests you should be able to defend your home, your family, and yourself from these perpetrators.Long criminal history? Why am I not surprised? RCMP saying they’d charge the neighbour if he had tried to tackle the intruder? Even less surprising! How can anyone look at this and think this is ok?And now for my downvotes…

I’m really sorry this happened to you. No one should be at risk from what’s being allowed in our society, especially in their own home. As for your questions however: “How many people have to be hurt? How many people have to die before changes are made?” Unfortunately it seems like the answer is “more”.

Again with this? I remember when they did it with Russian products after the invasion of Ukraine. The products have already been paid for! If you want, stop importing, but don’t pull the stuff you already paid for off the shelves! You’re not hurting anyone but the people who are paying to prop up these crown corporations run by idiots! So easy to do when your company doesn’t actually need to make a profit, right? Just keep bleeding the taxpayers dry Eby. It’s all you know.

An initiative to get small businesses to move into places that are meant for small businesses. Way to think out of the box.“In particular, Klassen said, because the vacancy rate is so high, she thought there must be some problem downtown.” Are you being serious right now?“Klassen said she assumed city staff would know some of the hiccup points experienced by local businesses and how to make it easier for them to set up operations.” Did you happen to ask them? Have you asked business owners? Did you do any research at all? This is your council Prince George. Now I just have to sit back and wait for Mr. Science to tell me how this is all my fault.

And do these delays count towards the “reasonable” amount of time one has to face trial before the entire case is tossed?
13
That’s really unfortunate. That location services a large region and employs a good number of people.Thankfully no one was hurt.

A total of 17 assault convictions in 25 years (4 against peace officers) and this "egregious" netted him one day, time-served... Judges do a better job at defending the accused than their own defence attorneys do.What would aggravated assault with a deadly weapon get you? Two days?Time-served of course...
