Part of what makes Orillia shine is its Arts Community. OMAH is an integral part of our culture and heritage as well as the well being and education it provides to all ages. Here’s hoping some creative thinking by OMAH and goodwill on part of the city prevail!

Dear Dr Kuch, Who are you suggesting should be paying for these unpaid tasks? I believe many physicians, including mine charge their patients $20 per “task” or we can sign up for a $100 per annum fee. (My math says at 2000 patients on his roster he could be making an extra $200 000 per year. )As a teacher (B.Ed. Ret) doing many many additional administrative tasks including forms for physicians, I could never have charged.I’m curious to know what you propose as a solution.

When I think of the old architecture maintained in much of Europe, it makes me angry to have to live in Canada’s boring structures. Also, I’d be interested to know the plan for “walkable” -Will there be actual sidewalks and safe crossing? Note there NONE now. I can barely get out of the pharmacy parking lot with the speedsters coming up HSV.

A clause in the house warranty that holds developer, builders and City accountable and NOT the other tax payers would certainly be a start!

A big question I have is why it’s so hard to get doctors to come north of highway 7? Physician recruitment is not a thing in southern Ontario. Why are local tax dollars and money that would likely go to other charities having to be spent on bribing new graduates to practice in our area? Those are hefty amounts of $ going towards recruitment- imagine what else could be done with this money?! Almost 8 years later and the Conservatives, the OMA and the universities graduating physicians have done next to nothing to solve this looming catastrophe. Anyone else scared?

I agree that cloth diapers are a great idea. I managed for first 6 months. Of course, that requires at home laundry machines… another higher income resource. And then there’s the question of what happens when parents return to work and baby is in daycare.

Municipal is still garbage and compost. But the province took recycling away. I tried reaching out to Doug Downey when we didn’t get pickup. His office sent me a form letter referring me to what is now in the hands of private Circular Materials, who in turn have contracted out to regional recyclers. In our case Emterra. No phone connection. Gotta use email. I cc’d Mr Downey Circular and Emterra. Took a few tries for them to find us out in Oro Medonte. This is Doug Ford’s legacy - Private!

Agreed David! No kings! Public pressure needs to happen to overturn this decision before this type of decision wreaks havoc on homes and possibly lives.

Finally! A school for (some) of the west ridge students. While it’s a good start, last week, we read about the approval of 1000+ homes to be developed in that same area. What are the plans for those students’ learning? At only 300+ students this school starts at a deficit which means portables. Drive up Bass Lake Side road at 3pm dismissal for the elementary Catholic school and witness the parents/caregivers picking up their children. Yikes and now we’re putting in a school right across the road. West Ridge better start walking school bus idea!!

Hi Doug, I thought fresh hen eggs were fine at room temp but washed eggs in grocery store cartons are not ok? Maybe someone at SCDHU can clarify?

This is an excellent exhibit. I was amazed at both the variety and complexity of media on display. The stories accompanying each were engaging and thought provoking. What gifted women artists we have in our community. Bravo!

Likely true! Our drive shed in Oro Medonte collapsed, is older than 20 yrs and we were covered by insurance and had the cheque within the week. It also covered the hours of work by neighbour farmer and his tractor to remove snow and walls that had fallen on our tractor.

Insert sarcasm? If yes, then agree that we need all the truth tellers we can get in these days political turmoil.
Missed us out in Oro Medonte too. Collection day is Tuesday and here it is Friday and no collection. Snow plows and driveway plows working around the bin. Chaos.
Right on! Good luck!
So many women suffer in silence or are simply not heard/believed by their family physician. Our symptoms are ignored by science or laughed at by the general public. In my own case, low hormone levels were not addressed until osteoporosis showed up! Kudos to this Doctor for putting this book out there. The question remains whether her colleagues will read and believe her?!
Are these ratings inclusive of both Thunder Bay and Orillia campuses?
