9Community colleges were built to serve the local communities and have done a wonderful job doing so; until they were deliberately underfunded so that they would fail. There is no shortages of students willing to learn in the Orillia area, no shortages of teachers who can teach who have made their homes in Orillia. What has suddenly changed? Not everyone can afford to run up and down the highway any more trying to get an education nor can they afford the horrible rents to live in Barrie. This is a mean spirited and short-sighted government decision while offering absolutely nothing in return to Orillia and the surrounding area students.
