When I ws very young, I was taught to look right then left and right again before I cross the road whether I have the right of way or not, just to be sure that the motorists have noticed me crossing; both drivers and pedestrians make errors. I have noticed on our roads creless driving when drivers cut across in front of crossing pedestrians and I have had too many pedestrians cross without removing their eyes from their mobile devices with earphones attached. Both drivers and pedestrians must be alert and pay attention on the roads.
Wouldn't make more sense if the speed limit in the school zone would be the same all over the city of Guelph?I guess leaving things the way they are there will be more money for the company that own these cameras.
Not sure why they would allow to lower the number of parking spots. Aside from 2 grocery stores and the liquor store there is not much at a waliking distance. Most working faimilies need at least one car to get around. And for the council people that did not show up to the meeting, as far as i am concerned they agreed to this project. so lets keep them in mind at the next municipal elections.
I am a 75 year old woman and I have been approached a few times. They didn't arass me and every time they would see me they would just acknowledge me with a wave or a smile and I do resent the fact that being 75 it makes me automatically not being able to make my own decistions. I always understood that they were just doing a job. So give them a break and lighten up.
Whatever happened tothe pedestrian motto: look right, look left and then right again + making eye contact with driver to be sure you have been seen. Always be aware of your surroundings. As a driver I have experienced pedestrians crossing roads, parking lots without looking, it is as if they expect the driver to know ahead of time that they are crossing.
Bike lanes or no bike lanes, cyclists will ride wherever they feel like; the sidewalks are just as busy with cyclists even with the bike lanes. The rles of road don't seem to apply to cyclists.
Has anyone walked by the Westend library on Imperial rd. from paisley rd to Willow rd? I had a hard time finding a poop free spot on the sidewalk. Disgusting, had to walk on the road.
It is not just the side streets & sidewalks that are not done yet or fully, but did anyone go downtown yesterday or the day befor? how can these businesses survive if you can't even access them because of the mountain of snow left between the road and the sidewalk once you have been lucky enough to find a spot to park the car, you jhave to climb over a big white hill.
