I am tired of hearing that "more" should be done to protect the structures at Moccasin flats. Who's paying for this? It's the taxpayers and I think there are far more important things my tax dollars should be going towards.
I understand the need to bring someone's upbringing into consideration for sentencing. With the GLADUE report, it seems like many offenders are having bad behaviour excuse for committing crimes. What about the victims? Why are they being considered? Not to mention that this man has a history of violence towards women, why are they being considered dispensable? By giving him a short sentence they are basically saying it's not that big of a deal. He has to report if he is involved with a woman? Wow. That doesn't seem like something he could easily hide from a PO (sarcasm).
The sad thing is, there are more than enough beds for the homeless here in Prince George. The issue is that the people that aren't in them don't want to follow the rules that these facilities have. You can lead a horse to water but..... Another issue, that I have heard from some of the people that are high risk is that they are First Nations and have bands that they belong to. Some of them have been kicked out due to their drug use. Why aren't their bands helping them rather than kicking them out? I really can't understand. My kids learn in school that the bands are accepting of all of their people and love them unconditionally. Where is that unconditional love when they are one the streets? There are healing centres that the criminals can go to. Why can't the high risk people not use these resources as well?
I don't know why, but this makes me cry. Here you have a man with a HISTORY of abusing women, yet when he finally kills one, he gets a proverbial slap on the rest. I can't wrap my head around it, even factoring in his past. Under the same considerations, why are the women being protected? It seems like this GLADUE fails to represent the victims of these crimes. Are women really that dispensable?
That's great and everything but, there's absolutely nothing that can be done about making houses AFFORDABLE and easy to purchase. There needs to be more done to get people to BUY houses. Make the older houses easier to mortgage maybe?
I'm sorry, did you go to DP Todd? Do your kids go there? There's still asbestos in there and it does get disturbed at times, so there's that. It's also made completely of brick, it's bloody cold in the winter and sweltering in the summer. It's over capacity and barely has anywhere for the kids to sit at lunch time. There are more elementary schools that feed into it than there used to be. They need a new school. Period.
So, just so I can understand it better, they are doing geological surveys to check for artifacts but, if none are found is it hate speech or denial? Just asking for a friend. It's pretty difficult to tell.
I never thought I would say this, but BC desperately needs the Conservative Party to get in and clean up this mess that is our province. Leave it the Liberals to promise a better hospital without even considering how they are going to staff it. That being said, coalition governments seem to be the trend right now, so is there even a point in voting?
One of these women has been an issue for years and has been let go over and over again. She is dangerous and has assaulted several people but, gets let go immediately. It's sad and disgusting that there are no legal repercussions for these criminals.
