Barely a fraction of it contributed to the economy in a meaningful way where it increased the GDP per capita. Sure. The GDP total increased as people came here AND worked. But that’s not the same as coming here and working a complex job and producing something of unique value.I too know people who also left to go work in the USA. They were sick of the lack of support in healthcare here both for staffing and for safety. They also receive higher pay for their value.There’s a brain drain happening because of federal policies. Another commenter had a 2-3 vote ratio. Not sure if these people don’t see it, feel insulted, or what have you. But it’s a reality. The more brains leave our economy, the more of us low to middle income earners are the only ones left to foot the socialist programs. Naturally, the government will look to us to help sustain it.

Less money anyone takes home is less they put into innovation, expansion, hiring others. Carbon taxes, clean fuel tax, federal excise tax, taxes on sales, more EI/CPP contributions, taxing us to send product to USA (Tariffs from USA) but poor deal making skills nonetheless. We start tariff wars we can't win. 0.5% growth in the last 10 years and the lowest of the G7 nations.Poilievre might be the antitheses to all of this. But he's the wrong colour to this failed Liberal ideology.
