'Don’t call me sweetheart': Panel addresses evolving role of women in construction

As a women in trades I find this title very irritating. I have been swinging a hammer and building houses beside men for the last 15+years. I have experienced and seen a lot. A man calling you sweetheart is a way their generation is showing respect or just their personality. The lady that pumps our gas at our local store calls my husband sweetheart. He doesn’t like it but it’s her personality. I don’t understand why everyone wants special treatment. I have been discriminated against when the homeowner (old man) said I was not allowed to work on his house that my job was at home. I don’t feel I have been treated differently by anyone else on the job site because I’m a woman. People call each other names (good & bad), get made, yell and scream. It’s all part of the environment. Women in the trades is great. Everyone needs to look around and work together instead of taking offence to the small stuff. Work is tough suck it up everybody

Nonsense that this is going to take days to fix. Ask a logger to fix the road. It will be open in a day. No need for engineers just some common sense
