'New normal': Sault border crossings down for six straight months

I know a number of present steelworks that continue to go across the river to have fun and play. How sad is that? It's the "All about me generation"! I bet that very few retired Algoma Sreel workers go over there. #1 we can't afford it, and #2 our grandfather, fathers, uncles, and cousins fought and gave their lives for this country, We know what a threat Trump is. The few that are still crossing need to put down their phones and pick up a history book! Just my opinion!

What do you mean another winter storm? We haven't had one yet! You guys need to stop sensationalizing the weather. Its just normal winter weather.

Nothing will be done. This council only cares about downtown.

What a waste of money! Those lights were put there for a reason.

Vehicles are just too expensive even before the tariffs. I bought my 2016 Ram for $38,000. That same truck is now $65,000. There is no way I can afford that same truck now.

I lost my government job with the Harris cuts. I had 4 young children at the time.

I think the city should still still call for disaster relief. The streets are a mess. Snow banks are huge and we can't see traffic when pulling out of side streets. . Our City works guys are doing an awesome job but the situation is just getting beyond our capabilities. Ask for help for safety sake and to ease the tax burdon on all of us.

Where is our police department? There is almost 0 enforcement anywhere in this city.

HeftySet, just so you know, my home is 112 years old and was here long before their were any roads or airport out this way. Our farm is also 5 miles from the airport. I am concerned about the noisy planes that's all.

I don't live by the airport. That's my point!

Here's a story. Leigh's Bay Road was resurfaced a few years ago. 2 years ago Trimont Construction started filling a property close to Base Line. Liegh's Bay South is designated as NOT A TRUCK route. All summer they destroyed our road with hundreds of tri axle loads. I begged city hall and our alderman to stop them. They could have used Base Line to run the loads. Instead they recked the whole street. Now our road is destroyed and full of pot holes. Why did the city not stop them?

To all the nasayers, I don't live by the airport. My farm is in Sault Ste. Marie. The planes never bothered me until they started flying over us ALL DAY. This farm is 112 years old and was here long before there were any roads or airport.

Our northern infrastucture sure is lacking when a single culvert can shut down the TransCanada highway for a week.

I totally agree with this proposed new law. There are far too many drunk drivers out there. My question is; how do they pay child support if the person is in jail?

Why can the public never post comments on SooToday reguarding most storeis involving the police in this city?

It's not good for Sootodays reputation that's for sure.
