Alberta minister says third party to help probe into lucrative health contracts

“As Premier, I was not involved in any wrongdoing,” Smith stated, echoing the 37th American president’s notorious 1973 assertion during the Watergate scandal that “I am not a crook.”“Any insinuation to the contrary is false, baseless and defamatory,” she continued in the statement, which was also published on the official government website. Was this a threat to sue ordinary Albertans, journalists and commentators who question the motives and intentions of the politician at the top? It sure sounds like it.

Does everyone realize that this opens the door to sell YOUR provincially owned assets and begin their privatization scheme? It's not like they don't have any experience in the world of corruption and back room deals is it??

Agree totally with the above comments, the corruption is blatant and rampant. The unfortunate part is that we have to wait an extra 6 months for the election to boot these clowns out because they declared a natural disaster 3 years in advance to give them extra time at the trough.

A third-party report paid for by the UCP government is pointless with a pre-determined outcome, as it is with all of the other reports that they waste our money on. Bring in the RCMP or some independent body that at least has credibility. This is like a joke that's not funny and is costing Albertans HUGE.

This has got to be one of the worst written articles I’ve read in a long time. There’s no clear reason or logic to why they’re tossing a working and expanding federal program and asking the province to create a whole new one??

What a nightmare government the UCP has turned out to be. These are citizens LIVES they’re playing with. WHO elected these clowns?!?

“We are going to have an external party do it, and so I am looking forward to making information — as much as possible — public so that people know what’s going on,” LaGrangeConsidering how they have consistently suppressed taxpayer paid reports and any results on public consultation for the CPP, energy projects and "parental rights" does anyone actually believe that any evidence will ever see the light of day?At what point is enough is enough for Albertans with a government who is clearly working against the wishes of its citizens?

Bring this on without delay! There are likely many other very questionable moves this corrupt UCP government should be under investigation for (Rocky Mountain coal mining, changes to FOIP, changes to ethics guidelines and accepting gifts).

Especially this corrupt government!

Maybe they could boost their non-existent support of this nonsense by offering a two-for-one? Combine some Covid conspiracy nonsense or maybe even a hearty discussion on ChemTrails or Electronic Voting machines??? Who voted this???
2
And if intelligent folks vote out the corrupt UCP party that spends the LEAST per capita on students in the ENTIRE country. Shameful

Propaganda, corruption, apparently right at the top. Smith, if you can waste $2 Million on quack Drs report, and another 3.5 million on pension consultations, $130 Million on DynaLife fiasco, $70 Million on children’s Tylenol scandal, millions on other fake consultations, $30 Million on the War Room, $ Shopping trip to Dubai etc…. Taxpayers want a Judicial Inquiry and RCMP Investigation. Albertans don’t want AHS investigating themselves and reporting to LaGrange. We are also skeptical about the AG Report, as, this was also another one of your crony appointments. Albertans want and deserve a full-on Judicial Inquiry and RCMP Investigation. Albertans deserve Nothing Less!
cue the banjo
Sure, continue to drink your UCP kook aid. Let me make you feel better: Trudeau’s fault ! Nenshi’s fault! Climate change and Covid false! Feel better?
