Breaking: City council votes against third party audit of Chirico expenses

People who have nothing to hide, would’ve voted yes. People who were voted into positions as public servants by the taxpayers who have been demanding transparency, voted no, and as such, these councillors should be considered a “no” at the next election.

Broken is putting it lightly. I wonder if they live in the same kind of community where it takes police officers two hours or more to respond to a call? (The recent attempted run-over/pavement scam) 3:20 AM, are we supposed to ask the intruder what their intentions are and what weapon they have before proceeding with our own safety? C’mon now. Repeat offenders given same day bail, police that are stretched thin and can’t or won’t show up…. this will only happen more and you can’t make victims the blame!

It honestly feels like every week there’s another mess coming out of North Bay. From the city hall fiasco, to the issues with the NBMCA, to the NBRHC job losses, and now the province stepping in to take control of the NNDSB — it’s exhausting and embarrassing. How are citizens supposed to trust leadership when every major institution in this city seems to be falling apart at the same time? It’s no wonder we struggle to attract new businesses, real tourism, or even keep our population from shrinking. People want to live in a place that functions — not one that makes headlines for all the wrong reasons.Something has to change. We deserve accountability, competence, and a city that actually works for the people who live here.

$1500.00 in one day!!!! Just for dining expenses at average joes and Churchill’s…. And the person approving the expenses was gifted one of the $200.00/person meals. Plus we’re paying for him to travel to the restaurants since he expenses every mile when he leaves his home. Not just at all and most companies would fire him for conflict of interest— gifts/dinners to the person “approving” said expenses

With behaviour like this done by our own elected mayor, only rectifying the situation once caught, the person approving this behavior, receiving gifts and expensive meals; it’s hard to believe that other counsellors may have a few skeletons in their closets as well, particularly the ones that downed any inquiries. It also starts to question trust when you see a $63 million project, how much of that money went to line people’s pockets that should’ve stayed with taxpayers? Zero faith left in this city and how they handle funds

Too many skeletons in too many closest which the forensic audit would reveal— that this isn’t the first time someone has been dishonest until caught and there are many many more instances being intentionally hidden by dropping this motion. Citizens are as dumb as you need them to be, Council.

Exactly! That man, a former banker, has multiple cards, and uses them exactly how he means to. There’s no “oops!”

They’ve been going a slow and lonely death for years at the hands of humans for money. Let them go where they can feel life for their last years

This place is nothing more than a triage centre finding ways to defer patients to other specialists or doctors here and in other communities constantly. The number of patients who go in and come out worse off because of the lack of care, concern and urgency should be made public.

Exactly. Lots and lots of the “higher ups” and their family and their friends in our small town of proximity don’t wait in that ER- or weeks/months to see doctors. So many people think there’s no problem because they get special treatment while the rest of us fight for our care. Texting their friends from the waiting room and suddenly skipping the line— if they go through the front doors at all.

Sounds like a great initiative. It’s disappointing northern communities weren’t chosen, especially considering the amount of travel patients endure having to go to medical appointments outside of their communities to receive treatments and care, including seniors (and their caregivers!)

Self-serving and power drunk. High handed and above the law attitude. Acting with impunity and a sense of entitlement and arrogance that would put some leaders to shame. You’re ignoring the will of the people while disregarding democratic principles. You’re eroding public trust and behaving like an unchecked authority— as if you don’t have to answer to anyone, including the people who put you in your higher than thou positions. Your actions are not of or for the people.

$1500.00 in one day, wining and dining north bays top officials— $200.00/person. Mustve been an important day— lunch at average Joe’s and dinner at Churchill’s—Including Serevino, the person approving the expenses. Gifts for the person approving your expenses is called a kick back.

Seems like anytime anybody tries to do anything in the city, and more importantly, this province, so much red tape, forms to fill out, fees to pay to fill the forms they make you fill put, and then sit and wait for people to do something with those forms, Despite the digital world that we live in. and the intense need for affordable homes. This province wants all our money, in any way it can.

All of this to say his friends get to reprimand him?! What a joke. EARLY ELECTION!!!!!!!!! Most voters have already decided about the integrity of the mayor and his council. Betting those who refused to answer if they’re running again are the first to give him a hall pass… and then run again

Boomers and their Boys Club for ya! Anyone actually surprised?

Gardiner said “…. social media to the detriment of the mayor many times, over the detriment of his family, his children and his grandchildren and his family name. And that is very punitive. He suffered enough.”What an an odd, entitled and very infuriating thing to say. All Hail to the Chiricos! They are above us all.

Make em Pay out their own pocket, submit and be reimbursed. Just like those who, oh I don’t know, have to travel for health care and wait on a grant reimbursement. Or any employee of any company ever, who wasn’t a card holder. Then watch the spending get reeled in immediately—cause it’s treated Different when it’s your money you’re spending, out of your accounts, and not treated like a piece of entitled plastic.

I went in with a stone and sat there for over 14 hours. Had to wait for imagining staff to come in at 7am. No pain medication. Passed the stone in the waiting room. Another person I know, same issue, given an IV drip of torodol for the pain while he waited. I know for a fact people who know, are related to or are friends with doctors, get to the ER, text them and skip the line entirely. There’s no consistency or transparency at all. Laying there at a level 10 for 13 hours because I’m not having a bbq with a doctor and his family on Saturday, all while listening to nurses on their phones, and talking about their weekend plans with each other. No beside manner in the ER, either.
