They could have taken the money for temporary private security and put in lights and cameras and whatever else is needed to make it safer permanently.

You are so right! How dare people demand you move your foot from the gas to the break pedal instead of them walking 100 ft down to the lights, 50 ft across the intersection, then 100ft back up the road. Those lazy louts would have you move your foot slightly. Disgraceful.

Museums are not designed to make a profit any more than council or the roads are. They create value for the community. Not revenue.

What pesticide was spilled? This seems like important context in a news story about this. Four stories with three reporters and no one thinks that it is important public information?

If he was sticking up for the auto sector he would be trying to negotiate new assembly and parts plants for these vehicles in Ontario instead of calling for a boycott.

The Ontario government had a system but the McGuinty government closed it on March 31, 2009. It wasn't perfect. It did need work but dumping people onto the streets to save money wasn't the solution. Now municipalities are saddled with trying to come up with solutions individually.

It's unfortunate that OHIP rules prevent them from charging though OHIP. Maybe they can convince a DR. to join them to fix that. I see the biggest issue as being, use of this clinic may be grounds for your existing health care provider to terminate your patient relationship with them. CHECK FIRST!

On-demand transit has its place, especially in rural and outlying suburban areas, or during times of low demand. If done right, it provides affordable mobility to people who might otherwise go without, and as an alternative to driving a car or paying an expensive taxi fare for those with travel options. Durham Region has done a good job covering the entire region with fixed-route and on-demand services, especially at night, where the urban south enjoys 24-hour transit access.
