Get used to that number going up 4-7 percentiles once that new arena is built. The first surprise has already sprung: a $2 million dollar entrance....North Bay is in for it.A new rule should be passed based on the lying council portrayed against Bayites about the real amount of money that was spent on Memorial Gardens. Lie about costs=jail time. This is the only way the real numbers will be shared. We already have a liar in the current Mayor who ran and won based upon his campaign against the arena. Once in, he changed his tune fast and was suddenly for the new arena. Pathetic lie.I doubt the liberal moderator will of this site will post my comment.
Joining the EU brings on several rules and laws that may not sit well with some of the industries in Canada. The EU cost that UK dearly while part of the EU and it cost them more when they left in 2020. The EU economic costs can be more than what a country gets from it. Switzerland voted not to join the EU and it seems as though it is a decision that other countries in the area feel the same way. Germany's contribution doubled after the UK exit. An election would need to be called in Canada with the EU being the main platform of the party supporting it. For me, it's a hard pass.
Here you go Canada/Ontario, you wanted a police state, you got it. The practice of handing out the fines drivers face depends on the officer. Pass a plow and that driver could face a fine ranging from $150 to $1,000, stunt driving. Excessive. Are the police going to use helicopters to impose fines? Likely. How many fines have to handed out to pay for the officer, the vehicle, all the tech in the vehicle, a helicopter, pilot, co-pilot and fuel for all the vehicles? It's all gone way too far. Governments have to start cutting back on the law. It has become intrusive. Speeding seems to the crime of the century in Canada. Some of the safest highways in world have no speed limits. Ontario is finally following the prairies in raising speed limits. Speed limits were introduced during a fuel crisis in the early 1970's. Nixon enacted the 55mph limits. Vehicles are a much different beast today and are built to handle higher speeds. In cities, and neighborhoods limits are necessary.
Bottom line is that Canada does not have the population to pay for how big this country is to wire up for internet. Those who are without high speed internet either in rural or northern Canada do not add up to enough people to pay for it. We're talking in the billions range to get Fibre to all those folks. While I agree with the talk of keeping money in Canada by buying Canadian, there are examples throughout the dollars reach that foreign corporations operate in because of their size that are in a large population density where more opportunities exist. High speed internet is one of these ventures that a man like Elon Musk can afford because his finances encompass the world through various corporate ventures. He makes more and has more money than Canada does to put in perspective. Canadian telecommunications industry simply do not have the funds to make moves that would wire all Canadians. We lost that fight. It's time to admit it. Starlink is it.
I tend to agree with had enough fellow. Trapping is legal and it shows responsibility in the trapping community to warn that they are working along the trail. They could of said nothing!?As for where the traps are, they would be far enough off the trail to allow kids to play within view of the parents. Want to complain? The trail will be closed in the winter for foot traffic. Snowmobiles also use Cranberry Trail. It's simply wise to share and play nice than to not play at all.
As opposed to Trudeau who was fixated on climate and all the fires two years ago were all due to climate change. Not true. People were setting them.Climate was not the issue as the numbers prove.
MTO must be implemented once more as the caretakers of roads and highways in Ontario. I used to drive Cochrane to Toronto when the MTO were still clearing roads and I don't remember the road from Cochrane to North Bay, ever closed. I drove this route for over a decade. Never closed, not one time. Now? Practically a weekly occurrence during the winter. Winters back then were much worse than they are today. There's cutting services but, then there's cutting services to the peril of Ontario drivers. The experiment failed. It's time to once again make Ontario roads and highways safe in the winter by bringing in the MTO to resume where it left off. How about the government cut back on mega arenas where not needed or the largest tunnel in the world. How can our government build that tunnel without being capable of the upkeep of the current highways. Common sense revolution must once again take place. Sooner the better.
In the years to come, electricity will be insanely expensive. The Ford government has been paying for Hydro increases since taking office. The Whynn government privatized Ontario Hydro. The increases are significant. The Liberals made a bloody mess of everything else but Hydro will be a mistake that taxpayers will pay for a long time to come. Now is the time to seriously look into solar. It will pay itself off extremely fast at what the Hydro rates will eventually be at. Don't say I didn't warn you.
Quebec who have some of the best trails and a trail pass that also pays for the snowmobiles insurance for that year and Quebec have lost 600 riders in ten years.
You can still file a claim for damage if it's under $5000.00. The new measures are to alleviate Police response to an accident scene if the damage is under $5000.00. People will have to take pictures(I prefer video as pictures can be extracted from video) and then head to the police station and report. The problem I have with this new policy is what if charges need to be filed against one of the drivers. It will create confusion.
I wouldn't let that guy try a Cruze nevermind a full jam Denali. Slow week perhaps. Likely a few job openings next week. As for the post asking about Onstar, it only works outside, not in a shipping container. I doubt this chap has that type of sophistication. Time will tell.
The last phrase of this article states: "Rental properties are not eligible for this program."Is that a joke? Rental properties with concerned tenants about landlords who in some cases do the bare minimum when it comes to safety, rental properties should be at the top of the fire department lists for such hardware. This way of thinking by North Bay fire department is a serious lapse of judgement.
