With mayor opposed, council endorses automated speed cameras

Our Mayor is correct. Speeders should be ticketed by the police.

It all sounds good but.... What happens to all the campaign promises once a politician gets elected? Sorry but I don't believe 90% of the statements coming from anyone running for any political office!

Don't let them outside. Haven't you heard? Someone might eat them! lol

While I do sympathize with small businesses that really need postal services, I imagine that most residents care very little about mail delivery. It's far easier to do everything online. I would think that postal workers would be nervous about their demands, in case they are soon to be permanently unemployed. Sorry but I believe that day will come. Many businesses that we once thought were here for forever, are no more. Just look around.

Trump, the angry dictator and Putin lover needs to learn quickly, that Canada will not just lie down and take it from the bully next door! Those in power in this country, please do something asap. This is not the time to remain "the polite Canadians"!

If the closure is due to government red tape, that is shameful.

"WORKING Canadians"? So those who are RETIRED and paying more for rent, more for gtroceries, more for gas, more for tv & phone, more for clothing, etc. and are on a fixed income, don't count? That could cost Trudeau. We vote too! If I'm mistaken, please correct me.

Even though it's clearly against the law, I still see people everyday, letting their dogs run loose while they are taking them for a walk. "My dog needs exercize". "I guess you don't like dogs". "You've never been attached to a pet". Blah, blah, blah. No, it's against the law. Simple.

I guess the snowmobilers, will of course, follow all the rules? Respect peoples' property, stay on the trails and don't drink. Uh-huh. Think about it. Furthermore, local drivers are still angry about the bicycle paths and even angrier about e-bikes. I also notice that the speed limits which are posted everywhere, are mostly ignored. Let's see how this new "fun activity" develops. I feel sorry for residents who live anywhere near the "fun areas". They'll be hoping for a very early spring!

Is there an island somewhere, way up in northern Canada where sick, old seniors could be shipped? Probably no doctor would want to work there and it might be too far for any visitors. But at least they'll make room for others who need a hospital bed? The people making these mean and heartless decisions will be old someday too, so they should be very careful about what they are potentially creating! It might be their turn sooner than they think.

I wonder if the public will ever learn how the YMCA got into such financial difficulty in the first place. Isn't this something that should be investigated so it isn't repeated? It has to be something more than just poor management! What is it?

Money well spent! Hopefully, these cameras will soon be everywhere. Too many speeding drivers in this city who experience no consequences for their bad behaviour behind the wheel.

Oh my Moxness! I wonder how many other cities have the same situation happening with the Moxness family? The apple rarely falls too far from the tree and it's evident that the Moxness tree has borne fruit. Can't a lawyer be hired to start a class action law suit and stop these two or does this just go on forever? Poor tenants who are in the middle of this mess!

Soo Reader asks about declaring "a state of emergency" so I must ask how long that Reader has lived in Sault Ste. Marie? lolol My laugh for the day!

Something doesn't "smell" right. Wouldn't a properly run business be aware that their memberships have dropped significantly. Would they not realize when it's past time to start "selling" memberships? That might be quite important to their operation I would think! I wonder who is responsible for that oversight?

Is this a joke? Why would "struggling families" be anywhere near a liquor store in the first place?

When I shop at a retail outlet, I expect customer service. A young person all alone in a store, sitting at the cash register playing on his/her phone is NOT customer service. Sometimes, a customer will be fortunate to even hear "hello". This kind of situation is an indication to me that this place doesn't care if I ever buy anything from them since they haven't bothered to even train the staff. So I leave and most likely will never return. I'd be happy to teach customer service. Maybe then there would be an increase in sales and fewer store closings!

The lights at Queen St. East and Church Street have been irrelevant for years and in my opinion should be eliminated permanently. What do others think? (Let's do our own survery.) :)

"Big win for local economy'? Big loss for many who feel the need to go there on a daily basis!

And with fencing all around it, it continues to be (quoting our mayor) "a blight on our waterfront".
