Are there any restrictions for this ridiculous petition? Are there any checks in place to ensure that people are not signing it more than once or that they are actually living in Alberta? The only people that have a say in this are the people that are truly born in Alberta and have resided in Alberta their entire lives. I can tell you that those of us who are true Albertans do not want to separate.
It makes me ill that Todd Loewen has been handed the UCP portfolio he was given. He is part owner of an outfitting business with his son, so this is a blatant conflict of interest. He is an avid big game hunter himself. He makes these selfish policies to accommodate himself and his hunting buddies. There is absolutely no science behind his decisions to issue hunting licences on any given species.
What an asinine statement! Releasing farm raised deer and elk into the wild population is a recipe for disaster and reeks of the selfishness of the UCP to make a dollar. Sigurdson definitely needs to be recalled!
I am not on Facebook. It would be nice if the Western Wheel could dedicate some space that could provide upcoming locations and times for future signings.
Strychnine was banned because of the inhumane effects it had on the animals and birds that may consume the poisoned gophers. It is horrific to watch these animals convulse to death. This is reason enough to ban strychnine forever.
Sigurdson and Barlow; two peas in a pod when it comes to advocates of strychnine use. They should be made to watch the horrific deaths strychnine has on the animals and raptors that consume the poisoned gophers.
This is unbelievable that strychnine is going to be allowed again, even for a shorter period of time. The horrific slow deaths that occur to animals and raptors that consume the poisoned gophers is inhumane. The government officials say that safety measures are going to be put in place. How does that work, are they going to personally going to pick up every gopher that is poisoned so no animals or birds can eat it? Not likely!
I feel for the people who live directly across the street from this skatepark. It is situated within a residential neighborhood and the noice from it will be an issue.
If you want to celebrate Earth Day you should be turning off the lights, not on. Lights on at night contribute to thousands of migratory bird deaths as well as bat deaths.
Ruth, what a heartfelt second chance you provide for these horses. Your rescue foundation is a wonderful opportunity for these horses to find their forever home.
We lived in Bragg Creek and then moved to Okotoks in 2001. Okotoks has become an overcrowded and undesirable place to live. We have considered moving to Diamond Valley for the more quiet and appealing atmosphere and used to have family residing there. It would be nice to purchase a newer home in Diamond Valley if some smaller scale residential development were allowed to happen.
What is going on? There is already another skatepark near the Dawgs stadium which hardly seems to be in use. How much is this going to cost us taxpayers??! This field could be put to much better use for something like a pool or another fitness facility. I feel sorry for the residents that live across the street from this new skatepark. Their neighborhood and parking is about to become loud and congested.
