NDP leaves door open to supporting minority Liberal government budget

Name one thing the Cons have done to increase your quality of life. Or that of any average person. At least the NDP got us Pharmacare and Dental.

You don't know anyone benefitting from the Canadian Child Tax Credit? Really? Weird.

It's funny to see all the Conservatives crying about this budget when we all know that, had PP announced a similar budget, you'd be cheering it on. This is a Conservative budget, literally a budget Harper would have passed. Cuts to public sector employees, reducing immigration numbers, loopholes to keep big oil running - put Pollievres name on it and you would be ecstatic.

If you believe things are better in Alberta, under the thumb of big oil and Maple MAGA, I've got a bridge to sell you.

This is ridiculous. The bus driver really thought kicking the girl off and forcing her to walk alone was the best choice? Where is the common sense? He could have at least given her a warning this time. If Barrie can allow 12 year olds, with 4x the ridership Orillia has, why can't Orillia Transit?

You are the same people who will scream about protecting the children, while also wanting them to walk home alone. Pick a lane

Concerned about around the clock surveillance? If you own a cell phone, it's already too late. Just quit speeding and making up excuses for it.

Hopefully we can use this meeting to ask Mayor McIsaac exactly how he plans to pay damages in the impending lawsuit that Trevor Lee will (rightfully) proceed with against him. He made this mess and he can pay for it.

@nomore, a link to what exactly?? The inside of a Conservative brain?

Ministry of Emergency Preparedness and Response? Well, I hope she's more responsive in her role there than she is listening to the concerns of her constituents. We'd all be just as well off without any representation for the amount of good she does for our area.

So the declaration of significant weather is basically the town's "Get Out of Jail Free Card" when it comes to snow removal. Why does this town's council refuse to do anything to address the continual subpar snow removal we have to put up with every year? Sick of these "snow removal is hard" posts every year. This is part of the council's responsibility, as our elected officials, and instead of excuses we need solutions.

Funny; I look to this council for an indication if value and see nothing. Shame on everybody who voted no. This council is spineless and I hope everybody remembers that at our next municipal election.

Ok, but what did you fire the CAO in the first place? We still want that question answered.

Are you voting in the NDP leadership race? I feel like that's our only other choice. Hoping that Wab Kinew considers running for the federal NDP party one day.

When I was a poor college student, and couldn't afford garbage tags, I threw all my garbage into public trash cans. If you force people to pay for every bag of garbage they set out, you're going to unfairly place more burdens on lower income households, who most likely don't have the luxury of a garage or she's to store recycling and organic waste, while also placing a bigger burden on city staff who have to deal with overstuffed public trash cans and illegal dumping.

I would even pay his gas money to show up.

This needs to go to CTV and/or CBC. Emterra needs to be pinned to the wall for this abhorrent behaviour. Why can't they just do their literal job?!

I feel like there is one thing the people arguing for the billionaires are missing in this comment section. The wealth tax will NEVER apply to them, so there is no reason for them to be taking the side of the billionaire. The wealth tax doesn't even apply to the majority of the wealth that millionaires make, as it is only applied to income above a certain threshold, not everything that a millionaire or billionaire earns. Also, please remember, as you defend these wealth hoarders, that you are infinitely more likely to wind up homeless and on the streets than you are to ever becoming a billionaire, so perhaps start thinking about how a wealth tax would benefit you and your fellow citizens and stop falling for pro billionaire propaganda.

Orillia is the worst city in Simcoe County when it comes to snow removal. I moved here in 2007 and was surprised at how bad it was then (and this is from someone who grew up in Port McNicoll and lived nearly 10 years in Penetanguishene), and it has somehow only gotten worse in the past 2 decades. Roads go neglected for days, the downtown corridor looks like a the tundra, and council just shrugs, claims they have "48 hours to clear the snow" and then pull stunts like declaring "significant weather events" to shuck off any responsibility. And don't even get me started on the terrible state of the sidewalks. Why is this city so abysmal at snow removal??
