Calls for accountability after dog bites nine-year-old in the face

Agreed certain breeds are more likely to be aggressive but those breeds can also be quite amazing companions. Have fiends with Rottweilers. To be honest I was quite concerned about having my little dude play with these 2 much larger dogs but both Rotties were amazing with him and the larger of the 2 became my little guys best friend! They were gentle, happy, patient, loveable dogs that I would have trusted with any child. It was the owners though that put in the time, effort and caring that was evident in the dogs demeaner. Sad this individual isn't a more responsible pet owner.

What risk? They will make millions and the city taxpayers will again pay the bill for the infrastructure development. The city has to stop letting developers dictate how we grow.

Explain to me how this isn't a cash grab?

There were no development fees due to the fact the building was a reno not a new build. Minimal infrastructure updated required. The developer will make millions, they can afford the development fees. Stop with the "Poor Developer" speech!

What a farce. This has little to do with safety and everything to do with money! Ticketing a vehicle does not change driver behaviour! Where is the data showing these cameras are reducing accidents? Maybe we should go back to horse and buggy but then staff will go after horses for potential biting!

Do the people of Guelph want this? I for one am no fan of tall concrete, streets packed with parked cars and little to no green space.

The tickets are not ticketing drivers so no behaviour is changing. Where is the data showing there was even an increase in incidents to warrant the cameras in the first place?

Agreed

Agreed, you spend more time looking for changing signs than on the road!

Agreed. Perhaps the city should start to better manage the resources they are accountable for first like trees, parks, playgrounds and other public spaces! I'm sure if a residential tree falls, the home owner will be liable for any damages! If this bylaw goes into effect can they then sue the city?

Agreed! Perhaps the revenue generated is helping to offset the high costs of installing "traffic calming" during the summer months (Also when school is out), removing all of them in the fall and then storing all this stuff for the winter season. Perhaps though they are saving up to fix all the roads that will need repair once the holes drilled into the asphalt start breaking it up due to ice buildup under the surface. I guess only the "traffic planning" department know!

Grow up!

So there is data showing the number of incidents from when the plan was first introduced. Where is the data to prove this was an issue to introduce this plan in the first place?
2
That is just ridiculous! How is this improving safety? You as a driver cannot change your behaviour until you have incurred $1000 in fines? How can they with straight faces claim it isn't a cash cow? Aberfoyle camera generated $475,000 in the first 6 weeks and is on track apparently to do $100,00 a week.

A terrible accident for sure and condolences to all involved but do you really think a camera would have prevented it?
1
Paul you are obviously a bike rider.

Not sure the issue is with Cam but rather city staff for approving.
