It’s too bad that so much time and money was wasted on the initial concept. It’s good to finally get this project moving. It’s also important to note that a lot of the expense and needs are to remedy deficiencies with the existing facilities at Omischel. I'm sure field users will appreciate finally having change rooms and meeting rooms. Perhaps this will facilitate tournaments for those sports as well.
ha ha ha... some mothers do have 'em! Kidding aside, those doors should be open and with a desk sergeant there to speak to. They should not be locked, with a note to call a phone number, or a buzzer, or whatever they have now. Police need to have a public face.
So, instead of fixing things that are broken (healthcare) this government would rather break things that are just fine as they are, creating more social problems for all of us and staffing burdens for participating stores, along the way. Well played!
I’ve asked this before and never found an answer… do those US cities with OHL teams have Canadian flags in their arenas? In the meantime, I just won’t face that north wall when an anthem is played at the Gardens. I will stand and remove my hat, but I will not face an American flag while Oh Canada is being honoured.
I’d love to see the flag come out of the Gardens. I won’t even face that direction when Oh Canada plays at a hockey game. I understand historically why it’s there, but there are very few Americans left on base and the USA is no friend of ours.
I don’t think criminals will care. This is just posturing from a government that wants to distract the public from many other issues they have created, or aggravated, or just don’t want to deal with.
We should have been at this stage three or four years ago, and we'd be looking at a lot less dollars. Let’s just get it done before the price goes up again.
@rwrh… you're right on, but no private developer wants to be a landlord to that population. There's much easier money to be made in a single family dwelling and a lot less hassle. We need more public investment in these sorts of initiative. Private investors will never do it.
The homeless have to live somewhere. They can’t camp on private property, that only leaves public. I'm sure most of them would rather not sleep in a tent under constant threat and derision. What an awful and complex situation.
Let’s not forget who elected this awful government… yes, the 60% of Ontarians who didn’t bother to vote last time. Apathy is what leads to politicians like this. One thing they do well is motivate their base and get them out to vote.
Next, let’s do something about the bottleneck and mess in front of the old Demarco's. That block's beautification might have been well-intentioned, but it was a mistake.
