City recommends three designated encampment sites

Enough already. Enough of our tax dollars to these non-solutions. When these encampments are full, or trashed, more will pop up elsewhere. Money will continue to get diverted from projects (the article mentions the Mission Island Bridge construction possibly being impacted) to fund these never ending encampments. And we haven't even seen how much over budget the 'village' will run.

And why wasn't this done before the village was approved??? If one bid is submitted, and has high cost over budgeted amount, the city will just increase the budget? Concerning when article states that the village will be exempt from some areas of the Residential Tenancies Act, seems to limit ability to evict anyone. This is so concerning on so many levels.

This building needs to be multi use. Too late to just stop. Make sure there is some revenue generating portions of the building. Restaurant, retail, as others have suggested meeting /event areas (likely too small for convention center). Citizens have to be forward thinking. Our waterfront is finally starting to be a destination place, let's not have this building turn into a vacant, unfinished eyesore.

The same dept that was responsible for the James Whelan inspections (or lack thereof) strikes again. What are we paying these folks to do????
