Sorry but hydro is not wrong in this case. What happened to him in his home country and what's happening to him here are worlds apart. It's crummy, but it's also the law of the land.
Who's gonna pay the electricity bill in July when there's 100 air conditioners running all day? Those shelters will be like little ovens. My point is, this site, no matter where it is, is going to be a HUGE ongoing cost to keep running. More than I think administration and council realize. Maintenance, repairs, upkeep, security. Huge expense that's not going away. I don't support it. It's enabling and normalizing the stigma of homelessness and drug use.
Reply to SKW.Really? And yet we haven't had a case of measles in T Bay in 30 years. Why?Because of the vaccine. But thanks for your expert opinion on vaccines anyways.
Good points UU. There has been total mismanagement on this right from the get-go. They just stuck it down there on the river and forgot about it, didn't act on it when it was taking on water, and the least they could've done was had a plan in place to place it in a permanent spot while the heavy lifters were here, raising it up. Placing it in a temporary spot and paying rent on the land was not a smart move. Where's the accountability?
Lisa. 1. Because it IS already open space, unlike the area proposed. 2. The province would probably turn the property over for free, and possibly even we could negotiate some money for abatement. 3. Sooner or later the asbestos issue has to be dealt with. 4. Millions to build no matter where it's built.
On the James Whelan tug issue: This has been totally mismanaged right from the start by the city and those responsible for looking after the tug.Concerning this platform for comments: From their guidelines for comments section. - "Tbnewswatch exists to provide a platform for people to express their views on the stories making news headlines in our community." Not exactly true as TBnewswatch frequently pulls peoples comments even when there are no rules broken. So don't be surprised if your comments are not posted.
Kinda makes more sense when he explains it that way. Four to five conservation authorities in a given area, I can see the reason to merge. However, when they try to make the same rules work for northern Ontario, I can see why they need to have some discussion on that. We shouldn't be made to merge with southern Ontario.
