yes, lets revamp the marina this summer for the festival grounds to attract more people, and then lets start preliminary work for the next phase of pool 6. at the same time lets also put a homeless encampment beside the north entrance of the marina. you cant make this stuff up anymore..
and when the job is done in 3-4 years, there will be 200 layoffs. Unless they get multiple contracts, this plant isn't a long-term career for most people and i think the general public in thunder bay has figured this out.
huge thumbs down to the lakehead public school board on this one. yes, the business should have probably done their due diligence and reached out in the first place but i'm sure they could have figured out a way to work together on this venture. these were a hot commodity a few years ago, especially at Christmas time. glad my family got their old high school hoodies before this got axed.
read the article...Hello Kitty, Coca Cola, Marvel, Sesame Street, Disney, Pink Panther and Stranger Things are among the brands sold at Miniso outlets....those brands aren't Canadian.
that was my thought. Im not positive on how much fresh produce Costco carries though, but they have almost everything else. No Frills and Superstore are also less then 5-minute drives from this location in two directions.
my point was pretty much what @Nonyabiz said, they announce all these "new" jobs yet most of these people will be out of the job in a few years. I also wouldn't compare this to construction layoffs as there is all sorts of construction work available to bid on by those companies (Government, Municipal, Private, etc.), where Alstom soley relies on TTC related contracts.
south core is already embarrassing. the city has been ignoring it for years, while all money and developments have gone to the north core. interested to see what they do with extra money once the next phase of the waterfront development is completed and there's really nothing left to do in that area.
