Did Champlain really arrive on horseback, and hence the spurs depicted on the monument? Regardless - the monument is offensive in 2026 and there are more important issues to spend our taxes on. Scrap It!
The gentlman resided there for years, safely and affordably. With the current state of homelssness in Orillia and just about every Ontario community, it is puzzling that he would be evicted. Perhaps he is considered to be at a safer state, to be out on the streets. I disagree.
