OrilliaMatters 10The CAO and Council are trying to assert too much control over this issue. Lakehead owns the land - its name is on the deed. It given to grow the university. They are leveraging it in a very good way to support their growth.If this meeting goes south or leads to further delay, my vote would be for OSMH to go to Oro or Severn and Lakehead find another way to expand, while keeping the land. Enough of this childish behaviour from our city. You might not like ‘em but if you need an example of a city that backs growth, look south to Barrie. No barriers.

My guess is he didn’t give weeks to review and respond - the amount of time he was expecting to get yesterday to review OSMH and Lakehead’s terms. Definite delay tactic. Definite power trip.

OrilliaMatters 12Some of the questions were ridiculous, out of scope, and far reaching. I don’t blame them. If you listened to the questions, written by the CAO, it was clear the tone was inappropriate. Even the councillors acknowledged that after the Q&A - that there was clearly an agenda, behind the scenes, driven by the mayor and the CAO.

OrilliaMatters 5@Casual - watch the last meeting and pay attention or read the transcript. Lakehead did accurately interpret the agreement. It was the CAO and the Mayor who have misled everyone. The clause the CAO and Mayor were leaning on doesn’t activate for years to come. The Mayor and the CAO were accusing OSMH and Lakehead of misinterpreting the agreement while trying to implement the clause on excess land that doesn’t come into play until the year 2059. Google it.
