Actually, they are right on schedule. Closed May 28, and was expected to be 26 weeks which brings us to Wednesday of this week. Yesterday. Do you really want them to pave the top coat now while there is snow on the ground and the pavement cracks in the spring? Makes more sense to pave the entire road all together once the next portion of work is done. That was the original plan. No need to be so negative. People have been complaining that we need road work done in this city, and now that they are working on the roads, we have negative people like yourself complaining.
An extra 15 minutes is not that big of a deal, plan ahead. Also Elliot Rd and Moss road will be accessible this time, so probably less than 15 minutes. In a city this size that can be traversed in about 15-20 minutes, we are still far ahead of travel times down south.People complain that the roads are terrible, and there are many concerns about the infrastructure under the roads, so this is a needed repair. If they didn't do the work, folks would complain.
@Honda - the liberals are pushing green steel because most other countries aren't allowed to purchase non green steel to abide by their green rules. That is why it is important that we create new trade relationships with other countries, so when the USA tanks, we have other customers to sell our product to.
Hey Boomer, if you see in the article, they are planning on doing a multi-use path similar to the hub trail. What a great addition to this area. Great way to connect folks using the hub trail in Fort Creek.
You expect them to sand while it is snowing? Sand does nothing to help snow covered roads. People were complaining last week that the roads had sand and then it was taken away with the snow plow. Folks have to make up their mind.
@Sault Boy18 - Maybe do some research. We have to transition to green steel so we can trade with other countries beside the USA. The whole reason we are switching to green steel is so we can have trading partners other than the USA, so when trump has another hissy fit, we can sell to someone else.
Right? And the taxpayers see that the police department cost us a fortune, and they have totally abandoned enforcing driving rules. Saw an officer look at 2 separate drivers texting on their phones at a red light, and he did nothing. That could have been an easy $1,200 revenue and would have paid for the officers wages for the day.
So negative. People complain all the time that the city does nothing, but when they do do something, people complain anyways. At least now when the snow melts, the equipment will be usable right away. If they wait until the spring, they have to wait for the snow to melt, and the ground to thaw out.
It's not the Liberals net zero idiocy, it would be considered Canada's net zero responsibility. In order to do business with lots of other countries, we have to be green to meet the other countries green standards. Even if Conservatives or NDP were in power, we would still be transitioning to greener products.
You realize that keeping a lane open can double the time for a job? It can also be extremely unsafe for the workers, and then folks would complain about the long lines to get through one lane. Again, Elliot road to Moss Rd to 4th line will be open. Also, have you ever repaired water mains under the road? It is a giant job. Not as easy when only part of the road is torn up. If 20 minutes earlier is going to mess up your whole day and cost you that much, maybe you need to work on your time management skills hahah
@cdn.chick - and on top of being better for the environment, we have to be able to offer green products in order to trade with lots of other countries. Lots of these uneducated maple maga folks don't realize that, because Pierre has trained them to hate Carney even though he is doing great things for Canada. They also forget that you cant change the world overnight. These things take time.
Just so you are aware, pretty much everything you listed in your comment perfectly describes a seasonal campground. Campers are there for the season. That's the whole point. The reason they don't move their campers is because when you reserve a spot at a seasonal campground, you automatically get first dibs on it for the following season.
The idea of a fat bike trail at Bellevue park is great! My 14 year old loves to fat bike, but is not allowed to go to Hiawatha by herself, so having an option closer to home and more accessible will be great for her to get some practice before she is old enough to go to Hiawatha.Having a separate trail will reduce the amount of people on the current paths which will make more room for families. It's a win-win.
They are not looking to take anything away. You must have misread the article about Pointe Des Chenes. They are looking at redevelopment options for the unused campground that is not longer in service. The public park portion of Pointe Des Chenes will still be available for us to enjoy. Having some development out there would be great addition to the public park portion. They are also not looking to take anything away from Bellevue Park, they are looking to add a great option for people to enjoy nature.
ihaveanopinion - I highly doubt that is the reason. He built that parking lot specifically for the tour train. Also, there is no shortage of parking in the Canal District. Please don't make up rumors about a great local developer who has done lots for this city.
I see what you are saying, but new bike trails are a great way to give taxpayers options for low cost activities. Much cheaper to go for a bike and enjoy nature that it is to do lots of other activities.
