Passengers deboard aircraft after Punta Cana flight gets cancelled

Why is this news? Air Canada and Porter frequently cancel flights and leave people scrambling to make alternative arrangements. Coworkers booked on an Air Canada flight that got canceled last week were rebooked on Porter which then canceled, stranded for 3 days, there is no article about their hardship. This is the reality of travel these days. Why does this plane load of vacationers make the news? So they lost a day of vacation. When the domestic flights are canceled people miss medical appointments, personal engagements, weddings, funerals...

How much of our money did they spend on this? Money that could have been used for better services like plowing the parking lot in the winter or hiring people to clean the disgustingly dirty airport? They make it sound like a bird is an original idea? Thunder Bay’s logo is already supposed to be a bird and Fort William First Nation and the Conservation Authority are birds and the College thing looks like a bird just to name a few other local bird logos. If they were going to waste money on this they should have actually tried harder to be original.

I still don’t get why the entire tax base should have to subsidize childcare. We already have to fund arenas, pools, libraries, and various other recreational activities that are geared mostly for children. If you choose to have children you should ensure you are able to afford the associated costs, or have some sort of plan (friend/family) to assist with the after school care if you can’t. I’d rather pay more for the services I actually need and use, and pay less taxes, than have my money go and fund things to support those who can’t make proper financial decisions and want handouts to raise their kids.

Most people I know are at least occasional users of the airport. And while these guys are quick to tell you they stopped collecting an improvement fee more than a decade ago, they are still as you say funded by pay for use (which as users is still “our money”). More over these guys get grants from all forms of government, to buy things, and build things (runway re-do, new fire engines, green upgrades, to name a few). Maybe the logo specific wasn’t tax money, but it’s still a pot of money that does get subsidized and they should better manage the pot.100% agree they are the only game in town, no need for flashy marketing, people who want to fly don’t have a choice, so it would be better to spend the money on cleaners and snow removal, oh, and maybe dealing with the birds dedicate all over the front doors rather then embracing a bird as their logo!I don’t want a covered garage, that would only make parking prices double or triple, we pay enough as it is! Just run the airport!

Or you put it in the bin/tote provided, put it at the end of your driveway and they come and get it from you? Why have we paid as tax payers for these three drop offs when we have had door to door collection is beyond me! Duplicating service because “some people prefer” a depot is ridiculous. How much money have we wasted over the years for the drop off centres? The tax payer no longer funds this through taxes, we are going to pay at the stores as the manufacturer passes it on to us, so why should we spend another tax dime on recycling?

I was there today, and there was a big line for security on the 2nd floor, northern flights were normal. The security said one of the x ray machines was broken so when it is busy they can't run at full speed and have to hand search some bags
