The current disclosure threshold is ridiculously out of date. The Sunshine List started in 1996 and adjusted for inflation, it should be $187,500 today. All this list does now and sew the seads conflict between neighbors since every year it become less and less relevant.
Well said.Guelph Transit in its currently state is an absolute disaster. The current "hub and spoke" network is woefully outdated and needs a complete change NOW... not 5 - 10 years from now. Most of the buses at Guelph Transit are in disrepair and I'm constantly seeing them being towed (yes... even the diesel buses...). They also just need more buses in general.I have spoke to the drivers and even some supervisors who are equally frustrated. The biggest comment i've heard is that the schedule for every single route is impossible, without drivers speeding to keep up. Maybe this is why I constantly see buses doing sketchy/ illegal stuff all the time and why their buses look like they've been used is a crash'em-up durby.I don't necessarily blame the top guy at Guelph Transit. If I recall, didn't he just get the job a little under a year ago??? The issues at Guelph Transit have been going on for a long time.
"Accountability" and "City of Guelph" are 2 things that don't mix. It's almost as if the enture organization is afraid of that word or something. It's sad, but clearly true. Wether we look at Guelph Transit, the Library, bike lanes, or snow removal.
Why did my 2 comments get removed? Too logical? There was no negative words or hostile intent, you're just censoring people you don't like or something?
Guelph Transit need to be completely reworked.Get rid of the "hub and spoke" system routing and join the 21st century and switch to a "grid" system. There should be express routes with less stops on those express routes to get around the city faster. There should be more realistic route timing as well. I'm sick of buses racing through yellow lights, speeding, and doing other sketchy things. That can only be because Guelph Transit itself is putting unrealistic pressure on the drivers through unrealistic schedules. At least.. i hope that is the case and that we don't have 100's of bad drivers driving large vehicles through our neighborhoods...Fix Guelph Transit already!
So long as Guelph Transit can install on-route charging at the downtown terminal and the university, then the electric buses would work.Problem is, they bought the electric buses BEFORE installing the proper charging infrastructure.I hope the fancy downtown infrastructure renewal project includes this critical upgrade to Guelph Transit.
The City of Barrie contracts out various services to external vendors, particularly within its Infrastructure and Operations departments. Key contracted services include major road, water, and sewage construction projects, waste collection, parks and tree maintenance, fleet management services, and specialized facility consulting, such as structural assessments. Public Transit is also outsourced.Key Areas of Contracted Services:Infrastructure projects and vertical projects (treatment plants, pump stations) often use external firms for construction, engineering design, and contract administration.Operations & Maintenance: Maintenance of roads, sidewalks, and storm systems is partially contracted out, along with tree planting, horticulture, and specialized park maintenance.Curbside collection of garbage, recycling, and organics is managed through contractsMaintenance of city vehicles is outsourcedNOT REALLY COMPARING APPLES TO APPLES HERE ARE WE?
Except it's not a shiny new admin building. It's a storage and maintenence facility that is critically needed to increase the size of Guelph Transit so they CAN improve service levels. Their current facility is a joke. They park their buses outside to rot in the elements vs indoors and protected.I have a buddy who works there and said that there isn't enough electricity to the current garage to charge the electric buses they currently have, let alone when they continue to get more. That new storage and maintenance facility was supposed to have already been built, but they haven't even broke ground yet. It's been "deferred" enough already.Fix Guelph Transit!
