The City of Orillia, through its council, wanted to recruit a new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO). The council had approved the hiring of Trevor Lee for the position, a decision that was later rescinded by Mayor Don McIsaac using strong mayor powers.
Artificial lighting in cities, especially high-intensity LED streetlights, has been associated with several adverse health effects. These lights emit a significant amount of blue light, which can suppress melatonin production during nighttime, disrupting circadian rhythms and potentially leading to sleep disorders, reduced sleep quality, and long-term health issues such as obesity, heart disease, and cancer.
We stopped donating when we learned the donations were going to international students and non Canadians already receiving federal daily food allowances. When that changes we will gladly donate again.
Where was the emergency evacuation centre located prior to the rec centre. Is this another attempt to lock the community out of tax funded space, like they did with the Rotarty testing and vaccination space day after day after day. Why were arrangements not made with transit? Vaccines were given in Orillia at Couchiching Beach park from a go bus. Transit seems much more reasonable than the Rec centre. What is the plan for getting 100 patients, staff and charts to that location?
Orillia will be an “investment” city by then. Meaning the home owners now will be landlords then and the people renting from the landlords will cover those 3.72% tax increases.
Agreed! Strong Mayor put the interest of the people of Orillia (the tax payers) by keeping them out of arms reach of the provincial cronies. All the hive hears is the buzz!
