All I can say about this is that I hope the owners go bankrupt ...we need low cost housing , not more places for those with the money to travel the country to stay ! but.....this is indicative of our present mayor & most of council...forget the little people . I hope THEY will not forget when election time rolls around again .
this is absolutely disgusting ...and judging by the officials comments after complaints...the people who committed this travesty of justice should all either be retrained to learn compassion , or be fired
you're right ...this is a completey erroneous reprisal...both the library staff & the city councillors who have condoned it should be replaced ! [Sure glad I don't live in Midland !]
I can't even imagine ever wasting so much money to purchase a boat like that ...heck...my entire family was happy with the outboard motor boat we owned when our kids were young ...fishing with the family was a favourite , picnicing on uninhabited islands also was enjoyed by all...running a huge, overpriced gas guzzler is NOT my idea of a good time ,it's more for show-offs !
Well said ...these strong mayoral powers is the worst thing that could happen to municipalities ...apparently many power-hungrt mayors love it and are using the powers to the detriment of their citizens ! This act must be repealed ...SOON !
I must agree with those who want to keep the Pirate ship...however, if it is in fact, even larger than the one pictured ...I would suggest you cut it down by at least half the size...bigger does not always mean better ! Perhaps then , our city staff might open their hearts (and use some brain cells, if they possess any) and allow it to stand for those few days ! I know a lot of the people who use the Sharing Place, and they need all the help they can get ...so ...get lost you Scrooges (I know...wrong holiday )
congratulations ...I guess . because of this restaurants high prices, elderly pensioners like myself cannot afford to enter their hallowed doors ...I will continue to go to George's ,Kelsey's, Swiss Chalet, and the others of their ilk who give a good meal at reasonable prices. (go to George's for breakfast and get their Eggs benedict ...you won't find better ones in the out-priced restaurants !
Anyone who saw a pothole that large would know that it could cause a lot of damage ...and , like everything else ...auto repair costs have climbed significantly...all who disagree either work for the city , or have friends or relatives who do. Orillia has become a city of 2 kinds of residents ...the " haves ", & the " have nots ". No inbetween
Stories like hers absolutely disgust me ...taking advantage of a woman who has nothing but an ODSP pension is so wrong , but these people have no conscience at all ...I am also a widow on a pension , but luckily more than the cheap gov't ODSP pension provides ! so yes I will be contributing to her GoFundMe...not a lot, but every bit helps ...hope those in better-off positions will also assist her.
yes we definitely need more housing ...problem is...these developers are NOT intersted in low cost housing ...they want the most for the least ! ( I live on Bond St., a nice quiet , narrow 2 lane only street where a very few actually do park on the street , but those that do cause havoc to other vehicles driving by ...I can't imagine how many accidents will occur with cars trying to be first to get around a parked car.
I have NEVER been a fan of Ford's (he has to be the most incompetant premier yet , but his millionaire buddies can keep him in power to do their bidding ..but this has to be the worst decision he's made yet . I am curious about his councillors ...did they all agree with him (or all paid off ?)...were there any dissenters ? I'm sure it couldn't have been unanimous !)
Please people , remember who voted " YES" and those 4 who voted "NO" at the next election day ! Plus also remember this idiotic bylaw on the next Provincial election day.
I have made plans to remain in my home ...by taking out a Reverse mortgage , as my pension barely covers the necessities ...moving into a Retirement or Nursing Home isn't an option due to their high costs and lengthy waiting lists .
I'm 91 ...perhaps you live in or close to the downtown area ? I live in the south end & use a walker ...or tried to use a walker ...it was impossible to push it through the snow !
You are absolutely right ...as 1 of only 3 provinces ,who do not class Remembrance day as a stat holiday, our politicians are sadly lacking in patriotism, compassion, & pride in our province.
yup on every block you will see 1 or 2 pot shops ...hope they don't film all those ...we'll have more low lifes hanging around the main street than we do now !
