Guelph should be a top provincial priority for a new hospital, says CEO

The former GCC/OR lands have sufficient space for an Urban Park AND a hospital- brilliant to have a hospital near an Urban Park- another aspect of healing for patients.

If a person does not pay their water bill (or electric) why doesn't the utility cut them off after 6 months? Seems a no brainer solution.

Why just Robert Munsch? Why not other authors from Guelph? Jean Little. And artists-Ken Danby etc. YOu are treading on dangerous ground just honouring Munsch.

The indigenous word is not only too difficult to pronounce and spell, its meaning, turtle will yield connotations of "slow" which can lead to bullying amongst rival high schools. I would have chosen Martha Rogers Secondary School but since the Board decided to not have any names used in naming schools, this is a good alternative.

I hope that a complete list will be mass mailed to each household if this is to be successful. Many do not listen to news, read the paper online etc. so if each household is to be informed, a mass distribution by mail is the only way.

When are they going to install the veterans' banners? Travelling to Southampton, Harriston, Clifford and Sothampton already have theirs installed.Re Lights - How do they affect the birds and insects? What will the hydro cost?

Why do they ask for public input and then never post the ideas and then go ahead with what THEY want? The square is lovely as is with all the planters so beautifully filled by the green house staff. Why waste money and get people's ire and frustration inflamed with this unnecessary expense of tax dollars?

I hope that 2 hour street parking outside of the downtown core will be enforced. Streets like Cork etc have cars parked all day. This is wrong. Residents cannot have visitors, nurses etc. beause there is no place for them to park.

Why wasn't the PC candidate a no show? Does he think it is not important to let people know who he is? He obviously does not want our vote.

If the child had been in a car seat like those required for the child to be in a car/truck this likely would have kept the child safe. You hear of accidents where the child in a car seat is thrown from a car and is fine. I have wondered for years why this is not the case on airplanes. Maybe this incident will spark a new regulation.

Since RCM ticks all the "needs" boxes and presently offers all these services, it is pretty obvious that Council wants RCM OUT of the downtown area and they will do anything to achieve their purpose when RCM offers all the services needed at present. Why else are there meetings behind closed doors? And why can't Guelphites able to know which councillors have that agenda? RCM has dedicated willing volunteers in place and they all won't transfer to Stepping Stone location.

It is difficult to understand why the ROYAL CITY is not allotting more money and attention to the 200th Birthday of our City!!! What member of the Royal Family is attending (we have heard nothing mentioned) ? This should be a time of great celebration and it seems that City Council is unaware of this significant milestone.

Whoever was runner up should be appointed if they wish the position. If there are no runners up, then a runner up from one of the other wards should be appointed.

WHy not offer the house for free to anyone who wants to move it. The Mennonite community will often do this - eliminating demolition fees and re-using an existing house. This approach should be taken often instead of demolition.

LEAVE IT ALONE!!! THe City does a great job on the planters - it looks nice and it is perfectly functional now. We need money spent on streets and the Emergency at the hospital - must be 6-7 years now that the "trailers" put together for the emergency room- a sad reflection on Guelph when one attends. Lower taxes would be appreciated we are at one of the highest rates in the province. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" should become the motto.

I would hope that these homes (and others which are being taken over by multi housing builds) would be sold and moved to lots. This looks like a fantastic bungalow and it would be wasteful to demolish it when it could be moved to another lot.

Why aren't the banners for the veterans up in the City? Communities like Arthur, Clifford, Harriston, Mildmay,Southampton, Port Elgin each have had their veteran banners up since mid October.Anne Holman

I am sure this 100,000 square foot building is not at its end of life. Well built brick buildings can be retrofitted and brought up to standards -imagine the cost to demolish, get plans for a new build, and then build it!! Conserve it.

Congratulations. You should also mention RUTH ABERNATHY who received the highest honour, Member of the Order of Canada. Ruth sculpted the statues of John McCrae which are at the museum in Guelph and the duplicate in Ottawa.
