Councillor Bell yet again wasting the time of council. She appears to poisoned her relationship with Township staff that are the professional experts and could have guided the proper procedure to reconsider. She tries to conduct council business by email out of the view of the public....She tries to do her own "research" when we have hired professionals to do this research and it isn't her role.As a result, we the rate payers, continue to suffer.Don't forget, she voted for the original sewer bylaw...Let the gaslighting from her begin on this latest issue.
Township completely dropped the ball - washed out roads taking forever to repair, no sandbags? This is a core municipal responsibility. All the townships around Rama have their act together. This is a bad look for Mayor and Council.
She’s busy positioning herself as a victim again around meeting times. She’ll never miss an opportunity for self promotion and attacking her fellow councillors rather than trying to work together with them.
Councillors’ role is to represent the needs of the entire municipality when they sit at the council table, not just the ward that elected them. In doing so sometimes they will have to advocate or vote for something that is less than optimal for their ward. This is why trust needs to exist on council and there needs to be mutual respect. This is something that Bell fails to understand. Ward 5 residents are not “her’s”. She represents the needs of the entire township as do the mayor and other councillors.
An example of how Councillor Bell has been gaslighting on this.Last August she said - “ “I didn’t even know this would be a low-pressure system when I voted to approve it,” Bell said. “From my perspective, we should not be moving forward at this point without answering these questions.”But the report she voted on in committee of the whole clearly says that it is a low pressure system, and she voted to confirm the acceptance of the report at the June 2 council meeting that followed. She voted for a low pressure system. She knew the costs and the timeline for connection WHEN SHE VOTED FOR IT!Then she gaslighted about procedure around an amendment to the bylaw (short story is she wanted to reopen debate on the amendment after it had already been debated and decided on). Staff have clearly explained to her how to proceed.Don’t fall for the “ALL NONSENSE” gaslighting and re-writing of history that is sure to appear.
Maybe if you had been able to work with other councillors you would have had support for this earlier…I’m sure you’re just going to respond with how you’re the victim and all sorts of other gaslighting. All nonsense.
What the residents are asking for is entirely reasonable and council should adjust the options and reopen the bylaw if that is what is required. We are a community and we should step up and help our neighbours.
In my observation Coun. Bell misunderstands the difference between governance and operations. The role of a councillor is to set policy and the role of staff is to run the municipality. Outside of a council meeting she has no more authority than any other resident. Also she fails to understand that she represents the interests of the entire township, not just her like thinking neighbours in Lagoon City.
"Coun. Sherri Bell cited her own research " - Bell doesn't understand the difference between her role and the role of staff. If you don't believe the staff is competent, then hire different staff. The staff are far more skilled at research and purchasing than Bell.
"No Nonsense." - this is straight up gaslighting. Councillor Bell has brought an insane amount of nonsense this term.Where has been your support for the shorewall litigants that have been found by the courts to be wronged by the Township over needless aesthetic standards? Crickets...Councillor Bell isn't a team player, is out for herself. Comment about the shorewall issue and lawsuit if you really care about constituents...all constituents. I'm guessing we won't hear a peep on this.
Counsellor Bell - nope. Going by what I see during meetings. You are quite good at gaslighting. You don’t have a water/sewer agenda that isn’t in the interests of the majority of rate payers that aren’t users of the system (ie to get them to subsidize the service)?Honestly your whole approach to the integrity complaints comes across as gaslighting the public into believing you are a victim. Governance involves working constructively with your peers on council.
I know you are trying to create a “no nonsense” brand, but watching council meetings all you seem to add is nonsense. You list the responsibilities of council - can you point out where it says “independent” research? Staff research is professional, yours by definition is amateur. You present yours as equivalent. It is not and it is often flat out wrong or misleading. Staff’s take on council procedures is professional. Your’s is amateur and wrong, but you present it as fact, when the professionals are saying you are wrong. I trust the staff. If you don’t think they are good, present a motion to fire them and hire different ones. That would be your correct role.
Bell was sanctioned by the integrity commissioner how many times? Cost tax payers how much due to the sanctioned behaviour? Sanctions being faced in what court? Bell was found to say untruthful things about other members of council in meetings, insulting staff members in public during council meetings, and the list goes on. These are the receipts. All nonsense.
Sure looks likes receipts to me Councillor Bell.Watch folks - she will now go silent here now that her gaslighting has been called out. That's the MO - drop in a gaslighting comment - fake news. Then disappear. ALL NONSENSE.
I’ve certainly pointed out specific actions that Councillor Bell has taken, I’ve pointed out her votes in favour of the sewer connection costs and timelines that she claims she never read before she voted on them, then she pivots to a gaslighting effort to position herself as a savour of the common folk - when she VOTED FOR THE CONNECTION COSTS.Counsellor Bell point out how you have supported the Jennings in their fight and I will retract my criticism. I was pointing out your failure to do so above.I’ve pointed out how you’ve advocated using federal funds to reduce your sewer costs instead of roads which all taxpayers can use.You are gaslighting when you say we don’t bring receipts - there they are and there they have been. You have been the source of enormous disfunction in this council. Lawyer bills you have racked up for the Township - how ‘bout those receipts?Your misinformation seems to be patterned on a certain orange man south of the border…
This is an abject failure of Counsellor Bell - she has failed to lead on the shore wall issue instead costing tax payers 10s of thousands of dollars in needless legal bills on her personal grievances. All nonsense. The rest of council owes taxpayers far more clarity on the failings here - blaming bad legal advice just doesn’t cut it.
