OPINION: How does transit this bad keep getting worse?

If I have a doctor's appointment I always take a cab to the appointment and then take the bus home. This is costly, so I try to limit my appointments to once per month. The transit in Guelph is the worst I have ever used. I have lived in three provinces and several cities in the past 30 years.Guelph Transit continues to be frustrating and unreliable. I sincerely hope for the sake of our beautiful city that someone somewhere can come up with a solution to this important and difficult problem.

These people are human beings. I understand the difficulties that have been experienced by staff members during these times. Could the old main library be refurbished and set up as a shelter after the library moves to the new location? It could work with enough properly trained staff. Something needs to be done to provide for all citizens of Guelph. We need to stop talking about how compassionate we are and start proving it.

I began to be slightly suspicious when the benches were removed from the Old Quebec St. Mall. Then came the removal of the fountain from the 4 corners downtown. The whole downtown is being designed to exclude some of the citizens of the city. Now they are proposing "affordable " housing outside the city limits. I am of the opinion certain groups of people in power are trying to remove any citizens that are not middle class or upper class from our city. I use these terms deliberately because they describe the way a certain class of people think. They truly believe that they are superior to others. Our most vulnerable citizens are being punished for no reason. Compassion and equality are being discarded to make Guelph more attractive to wealthy people from places like Toronto. Guelph is not Elora or even Fergus. We are not the picture postcard community these people are trying to create. It is a fantasy, just like their so called superiority to any other human beings.

'Affordable' south end development proposed for south end moves forward

I would be very interested in what affordable means in regards to this development. An average family would find even getting a down payment a problem. With rising costs of basics like food and electricity, paying the high property taxes here would be impossible on a regular wage. It is heartbreaking that home ownership is just a dream to most people.

The Ward will only get important to the city officials when it has been completely taken over by rich people. They will buy the homes, renovate them and turn a beautiful neighbourhood into a place only they can afford to live. When the rich complain to city hall things get done. It is so sad to see this happening.

Fantastic! I am a TD1 on insulin. I am very grateful that Trillium covers my Libre sensors. I can't see the government covering this product. It will be too expensive. Still, people with private health insurance will enjoy much better glucose control using this new device.I am happy that it will be available. I hope they can get it to the market soon.
